Diwali, Patterns and More!

This week we have enjoyed learning about Diwali. Our story of the week has been ‘The Best Diwali Ever’ by Sonali Shah and this has given us great insight into how Diwali is celebrated. We enjoyed creating lots of rangoli patterns outside using chalk and natural materials. We also enjoyed creating rangoli patterns using rice. We also had great fun creating our own henna design using piping bags and paint to help us.

We learnt three new sounds this week and continue to consolidate all of our sounds using lots of different activities to help us.  We have also been learning to sequence the events in our stories and have been practising  our common words.

We have also been busy creating different patterns using loose parts and making our own pattern bracelets.

Outdoors we also looked at comparing sizes, we found different items and but them in order of size.

In PE, we have been enjoying playing possession games and working on object control.

We also created our own bonfire themed artwork using forks and cotton buds.

Another great highlight of the week was ‘break the rules’ day!
