The Creative Writing Group is for pupils interested in writing either fiction or non-fiction. Ms Quinn and Mrs Bastable lead the group and pupils also volunteer to lead when they have an idea they would like to contribute. Three senior pupils have won a place on the prestigious Robert Louis Stevenson Club Workshop on the 25th June. Paula Duffin, Mhairi Finnigan and Aodhan Gallagher submitted excellent creative pieces and we eagerly anticipate the results at the award ceremony at Napier University in Edinburgh. Mrs Bastable and Mrs Quinn will travel with pupils to celebrate their outstanding achievement on the day. Good Luck to all of you.

Well done to Romy Edgar of S2 who won a prize for being the pupil who devised the best page in an online story competition. Romy wins a Kindle which will come loaded with her own Storybird online book.
Well done and good luck to Seannine Henderson (5a4) and Aisha Iqbal (5a9) who represented the school in the Donald Dewar Debating Competition held at Bearsden Academy last night, Wednesday 27th November 2013. Seannine and Aisha have qualified for the next round against particularly stern opposition in The High School of Glasgow, Hutchesons’ Grammar School and Bearsden Academy. On Thursday 14th November, Katie Dunn (5a6), Lauren Hannan (5a9) and Aisha Iqbal (5a9) represented the school in what was a strongly contested event between East Renfrewshire schools at St Luke’s in Barrhead. The girls put in an exemplary level of preparation and their efforts were rewarded with a very strong performance that impressed all in attendance, none moreso than Jim Murphy MP who was acting as questioner.
