Debating & Public Speaking

S5 Rotary Youth Speaks Competition
Well done to Nicola Shaw, Liam Rees and Louise Woods who were runners-up in the Rotary Youth Speaks Competition on Thursday 15th November 2012.  The pupils worked well together as a team and delivered a fantastic speech on the subject of placing more emphasis on learning foreign languages.   They were commended by the judges of the competition and by MP Jim Murphy, Shadow Defence Secretary.

S3 Youth Speak Competition
A big congratulations to Sean O’Reilly, Maria Ward and Maeve MacLeod on coming 2nd in the East Renfrewshire Area Heat on Wednesday 10th October.  This was their first ever Public Speaking competition, but the S3 pupils worked very well as a team and delivered an excellent speech.  The pupils will now go on to compete in the Grand Final in November.  The details of this event will follow.

The Law Society Semi-Finals
Congratulations to Kevin Glasgow of S4 who was won Best Floor Speech of the evening at the above competition on Tuesday 13th March.  We wish him well in his forthcoming ESU Debate, alongside team mate Thomas McGrade, on 27th March.

ESU Public Speaking Competition
Congratulations to Jordan Leroy and Peter De Groote, both of S3, who competed in the above event on Tuesday 13th March at Strathclyde University.  This was a first time for both boys.  Although they did not get through to the final round, they made a valiant effort.  We look forward to seeing the boys excel in Public Speaking.
