INTERNATIONAL DAY CELEBRATION MEETING

International day celebration – brainstorming meeting Thursday 20th April 7pm

Our very first school International Day will take place in August. With the support of the school and our lottery grant, we are looking forward to an exciting event celebrating the food, art, music and dance of the many cultures and nationalities we have in school .

We are having an initial brainstorming meeting on Thursday 20th April in school at 7pm and would love as many as possible to come along to share ideas and create a working group. Even if you can’t help much moving forward, please do come along and let us know what you think. The school will also have a programme of activities leading up to the day so the kids are fully involved.

If you can’t make the meeting but would like to be involved or have ideas, please email us on olm-psa@hotmail.com and olm-parentcouncil@hotmail.com (please copy both). If you are hoping to come along, it would also be helpful to let us know so we have an idea of numbers though feel free to turn up on the night as well.

Thank you!

SPRING WORKSHOPS THURSDAY 23 MARCH

Primary 1 and 2 will be participating in spring workshops this Thursday, 23rd of March. Part of these will involve practical activities outside in the grassy area of the playground. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor learning (wellies and waterproof jackets/trousers would be ideal, if possible). Full school uniform is not necessary on that day however we would encourage all children to wear school polo shirts and sweatshirts and to ensure that they have gym shoes in school to change into after the workshop.

PSA NEWS AND DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Dear all,

As we outlined earlier in the school year the OLM – PSA are trying some new events for fundraising this year to ensure that all children can take part.

Last term we enjoyed the successful Reindeer Day and Christmas Fayre which enabled us to fund …

Think Science
The profits from the Christmas Fayre have funded the Think Science Workshops for P1 to P6. Feedback from the children and staff has been extremely positive and we hope to be able to fund this activity each year (although as the workshops are so expensive we are likely only to be able to fund this every second year for each class). Total cost £3100. Continue reading PSA NEWS AND DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Congratulations to our pupils who took part in this morning’s Burns Competition. Well done to Zinedine (P5) who won 1st place in the P4/5 Instrumental category and to Freeja  who won 1st in P6/7 instrumental, the overall instrumentalist and overall Burnsonian!

ST NINIAN’S RUGBY PITCH FENCING WORKS

Excavation work is about to commence at the grass pitch area behind St Ninian’s to erect a perimeter fence to the new pitch area.

As a temporary safety measure the informal ‘shortcut’ access from the pathway near Our Lady of the Missions Primary School across the grassed areas up to the rear of the hockey pitch near St Ninian’s school will be closed.

Please note this is a temporary measure whilst works are underway over the next 2 – 4weeks at the grass pitch. Could parents and  schoolchildren use an alternative route through Eastwood Park.
