Parent Club ‘Boosting Family Wellbeing’ campaign

The Parent Club ‘Boosting Family Wellbeing’ Campaign is launching this week. The campaign provides tips and supports parents to introduce positive interactions with their children into their daily routine. Different households face different challenges – but one thing everyone has in common is their mental health, and the importance of looking after it.

The Boosting Family Wellbeing campaign will familiarise parents with principles that build children’s happiness, confidence and independence – things like empowerment, safety, choice, working together and trustworthiness. These simple, everyday tips can help families reduce stress, improve children’s development and strengthen long-term bonds between parents and children.

This campaign is now live and will run until the 12 September on radio, digital, OOH and social channels.

Update Whitestar Bus

18.08.21
Whitestar have been in touch to confirm that the first stop Coach 5 will make is on Stamperland Avenue (can’t access Moray Drive) and the second stop will be Stamperland Gardens.  There is no disruption to Coach 6.

In relation to face coverings – this is an extract from the Scottish government guidance:

  • This has been updated so that only young people aged 12 and over are required to wear face coverings. This means that children aged 5-11, who were previously asked to wear face coverings, no longer need to do so.

St. Ninian’s Summer Sports Camps 2021

We are delighted to announce that Saint Ninian’s High School will host a summer sports camp for primary pupils.

There will be two sports camps which will run on the following dates – 26th to 30th July and 2nd to 6th August.

These camps are a fantastic opportunity to develop a whole host of different sporting and interpersonal skills in an enjoyable environment. This is also a great induction for the young  people of Saint Ninian’s feeder schools to experience the PE department.

Please click here to read a poster with further details and pricing.

Payment for camps should be completed using ParentPay on or before Wednesday 23rd June.
On ParentPay you will have the option to pay for either a full week (P1-3 is £30 / P4-7 is £70) or for individual days (P1-3 is £8 and P4-7 is £15).  Please make sure the payment is made before you complete the form below.  The payment items are set up in such a way that will allow you to make multiple payments (i.e. you may book your child in for 2 days and then you can still go back in to pay for another day later).  Please note – you cannot pay for multiple children in the one booking (you need to go into each child’s name/ account on ParentPay).

Please also find below a link to a Microsoft Form which must be completed on or before Wednesday 23rd June to confirm your place at these camps.

Lateral flow tests

As some of you may know there is a test for covid called “lateral flow test”. It gives the result in 30 minutes.  This test is being used to detect asymptomatic covid. This means the test should only be used if you DO NOT have symptoms of covid.

The Lateral Flow Device (LFD) kits are for the whole family to use and we urge you to use them. Please follow the instructions in the test kits.

The school is going to help East Renfrewshire Council to distribute the Lateral Flow test kits on Friday 11th of June during drop off time, from 08:30 to 09:30am at the main entrance. You will be required to leave name and contacting number in case they need to recall tests.

If you have run out of test kits and want more, you can order more to be delivered to your home.

To order more tests, please visit the UK government’s website Get tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) – NHS (www.nhs.uk) and complete the form. It will ask if you want to create an account. You can continue without one and still get a home test kit.

You can also pick up LFD test kits at the Mobile Testing Unit in the lower car park of the School, as well as the other testing sites for people with no symptoms across East Renfrewshire. Information is updated regularly on the Council website. Covid-19 testing centres – East Renfrewshire – Covid

Whenever people are asked to self-isolate due to being a close contact of a person testing positive, they should take the PCR test.

If you are experiencing the symptoms of Covid-19

  • a high temperature
  • a new continuous cough
  • a loss of, or a change in, taste or smell

Please book a test at a testing site set up for people with symptoms. These can also be booked on the UK government website. Get tested for coronavirus (COVID-19) – NHS (www.nhs.uk)

Healthier Minds

Supporting Children in Challenging Times

The Educational Psychology Service is delivering three online one-hour parents’ sessions in March (see picture below for details). The aim of these will be to explore how Covid has affected how children and young people think, feel and behave, and to discuss ways in which parents can support their child through the current challenges. The sessions will refer to our Healthier minds website and resources (https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/er/healthierminds) and will involve input from partners across East Renfrewshire who support children and young people’s mental wellbeing.
