Primary 7 Visits

Primary 7 children from St Joseph’s, St Vincent and Holy Name Parish have just received the Sacrament of Confirmation. All three Masses were beautiful; the children were outstanding and should be commended for their behaviour and reverence during the services.

This is the pupil’s final term and it is a very busy one. Below is a list of planned activities. Please complete the attached sheet and return to school as soon as possible.

Primary 7 Information Evening at St Ninian’s High School

Information evening for parents whose children will be attending St Ninian’s High School. A letter explaining the format of the evening will follow from St Ninian’s.

 

Tuesday 10th May  – All Day Visit

 

Mr Creighton, Depute Head Teacher at St Ninian’s

Mr Creighton, will be the Year Head for S1 in August.  He is visiting Our Lady of the Missions and will spend the day with the Primary 7 pupils.

 

 

Monday 16th May  at 10:30am

 

Mass of Thanksgiving in St Andrew’s Cathedral

 

The children will attend a celebration Mass with Archbishop Tartaglia and other schools in Glasgow South Deanery in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Clyde Street, Glasgow.

 

 

Wednesday 18th May  –  All Day Visit

 

St Ninian’s High School

All Primary 7 children who will be starting S1 in St Ninian’s High in August will spend the day in St Ninian’s. Classes will leave school at 9am and return at 3pm. Packed lunches required. For P7 children who will not be starting S1 in St Ninian’s, it will be a normal school day.

 

 

Monday 23rd May –  All Day Visit

 

Scottish Parliament and the National Museum of Scotland

 

 

 

Visit to Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, which will include a tour of the Debating Chamber and a visit to the National Museum of Scotland. We will live school at 9am and return at 4.45pm approximately; therefore children will have to be collected from school on their return. Full school uniform please. Packed lunch required. The cost for this visit is £5 for transport. There is a shop and if you wish your child to buy a souvenir, we would recommend a maximum of £2. We welcome parent helpers with a PVG certificate. Please complete attached slip to indicate if you are available.

Day at the Movies

 

 

A Day at the Movies has been organised as a celebration for their final year at primary school. The children will come to school dressed as a character from a film or just be an extra (“own clothes”). There will be a charge of £3 to include lunch, popcorn and drinks.

Leavers’ Mass at St Joseph’s Church

This is our Primary 7 ‘Graduation’ celebration. It is always a very moving occasion, especially for those families for whom this will be their last contact with Our Lady of the Missions. We would ask that children wear full school uniform, shirt and tie. Children will be presented with a bible, funded by our PSA. All family and friends are welcome to join us.

Sports Day

Primary 6 and 7 Sports Day will be in the afternoon.  Further details will be given nearer the time..

Leavers’ Ceilidh – School Hall

The final celebration for our leavers is a ceilidh to be held in the school hall. The children will be piped into the hall and in true tradition parents form a guard of honour.  Further details will be given nearer the time.
