Brebras Computing Challenge

The Brebras Computing Challenge introduces computational thinking to students. It is organised in over 50 countries and designed to get students all over the world excited about computing.

This involved pupils in using a set of problem solving skills and techniques that software engineers use to write programmes and apps.

Some of our pupils demonstrated some excellent skills, so much so that they have achieved Gold Awards, meaning that they scored in the top 10% of all participants nationally!

A fantastic achievement!

Well done to:

Dylan (S1)
Namit (S1)
Ewan (S1)
Arran (S2)
Leon (S2)
Ruaridh (S2)

Congratulations

Wilbur & Niso Smith Foundation Author of Tomorrow Award Shortlist

Congratulations to Finlay (S3) for being shortlisted in the final 3 for this prestigious award in his age category out of over 600 entries from all over the world.

While Finlay did not win the overall award for his short story, being shortlisted in a field of writers from Australia, Columbia, Canada, South Africa and Kenya among others is a fantastic achievement.

His story will now be published in an anthology called Robots, Rebels and the Resistance along with the other shortlisted stories (there are 10 stories in total across all the age categories). It will be available on the Worldreader website.

Well done Finlay!

AND THE WINNER IS….

We are delighted to announce that the winner of the House Cup 19/20 is Wallace.

Having also won last session, the Wallace Flag will remain flying high outside the school for another year.

The competition is now on for the House Championship 20/21. Good luck to all houses!

Charity Donations
Every year we split the money raised from Charities week, and allow each House to vote for which charity they would like to give their donation to.

This year the charities chosen were:

Balmoral: Glasgow Disabled Scouts
Caledonia: Refuweegee
Gleneagles: Ross on The Road (On behalf of Achieve More Scotland)
Ramsay: Guide Dogs
Sutherland: Help for Heroes
Wallace: Cancer Research Scotland

All of these charities do outstanding work, and we are extremely pleased to be able to contribute to their cause.
