P6B Class Blog 18th August 2017

We have had a brilliant first week back at school in Primary 6B.

We wrote a letter introducing ourselves to our pen pals who are a Primary 6 class at Cross Arthurlie in East Renfrewshire.

We had a discussion about what makes the perfect pupil and the perfect teacher, and we will try our best to become these! We looked at the UNCRC and chose the articles that we felt are most important and relevant for our class.  We are going to use these articles to create an emoji themed class charter.

We found out about John Muir and this year both Primary 6 classes will try to achieve their John Muir Award.

We are all excited to be in our fabulous new school and are enjoying our new classroom and playground.

We had Bikeability on Wednesday. We had a 10 minute free cycle assessment to begin with and then had 3 stations.  At one station we had to slalom in between the cones and then throw a bean bag into a hoop.  At another station we had to cycle down the hill and stop in a safe zone without skidding.  And at the last station we cycle round in a circle and had to look over our shoulders to see a number that was being held up and also at this station we had to complete different actions.

The orange group have been doing symmetry and have been researching symmetry which they have put into a Powerpoint.

The pink group have been calculating distance, speed and time.

The white group have been working out fractions of numbers. They have been working on word problems.

The yellow group have been interpreting data from various graphs.

All reading groups have been reading their own novels and working on predictions and summarising.

On Monday, we researched different inventions that can fly.

With Mrs. Watson in bounceback we drew pictures of our happy place and what we are scared of. We also made a love logo for a gang.
