Our French Family fun evening was a great success. Families chose two from a choice of six French themed activities. Miss Wight led the ‘French Bake Off’ as pupils and parents tried to make the perfect crepe. Mrs Oswald asked questions on French culture in the quiz and Miss Woods called out the numbers in the Lotto game – in French of course! Mr Weir was in charge of ‘Le Grand Design’ as families attempted to build the Eiffel Tower from spaghetti and marshmallows. Miss Hunter invited families to ‘Show Me the Monet’ as they attempted to recreate the famous ‘Water Lily Pond’ painting and Mrs Robinson refereed games of Petanque in the main hall.
With prizes on offer for all activities, the competitive sides of our parents and pupils were on full display! It was a fun evening and we hope all families who attended had a great time.
On Friday 3rd March, pupils in P6 and P7 are invited to a fairtrade breakfast. Pupils can bring their pyjamas to school and the Fairtrade committee will prepare and serve a delicous Fairtrade breakfast.
Pupils wishing to go to the breakfast should bring a donation of £1 to school with them on Wednesday or Thursday.
Please note this is for P6 and P7 pupils only. There will be Fairtrade activities for younger pupils later in the school year.
As part of our work on parental engagement, we are hosting a French Family Fun Evening on Tuesday 28th February, 6.45-8.00pm. All families are welcome to attend. Spaces in the activities will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. An information leaflet and booking form has been emailed home and is also available via the link below. A paper copy will be issued to pupils on Monday.
It promises to be a wonderful evening – très intéressant!
25th January 2015 saw Busby hold its very first Burns Supper Event, held in the school for invited guests, parents and members of the wider Busby Family. The event was a huge success, with all attendees enjoying excellent catering, hospitality and entertainment. A wealth of positive comments were paid about the evening and all the pupils that participated in making the evening such a success were an absolute credit to themselves and the school.

Parent & Carer Workshop
Dear Parent/Carer
You are invited to a Williamwood Cluster Parent & Carer Workshop that has been arranged for Tuesday 7th March 2017 from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in Cart Mill Family Centre.
The focus of the workshop is ‘The value of learning through play’ and our Educational Psychologists, Ainsley McGoldrick and Chris Atherton, will share research on why play is so important to children’s learning and on how best to support your child as they grow and develop. There will be time at the end of the session to ask any questions you might have. Tea and coffee will be available on arrival.
Busby was very ably represented at the Big Bake Off Scotland by our Head Boy and Head Girl who were asked to be judges in the national competition. Much cake was tasted, tested and enjoyed on the way to making an informed decision. Their expertise helped to crown Scotland’s top school cook. A fantastic experience was had and both returned to school with large smiles and much licking of lips.
Come along and help Santa by practising your Santa Skills. Prepare for Xmas Eve by making your advent calendar, making hot chocolate, magic reindeer food, and posting your letter to Santa. Spread some Xmas cheer by making a decoration, making a chocolate crispie Xmas tree, making a Xmas card or even by making your own snowman! If that’s not enough you can challenge yourself to fill the present sack, carry presents and deliver presents across our obstacle course and win prizes. We also have a great photo booth for you to do Xmas selfies, tombolas, and an amazing raffle with X Factor tickets to win!
Of course you can visit Santa in his grotto to show off your Santa skills – he might just have a present for you too 😉 After all that relax with a cup of tea and some home baking and listen to some Xmas tunes. Come along and begin your festive celebrations with us. Everyone welcome.
Yesterday, we were represented by 8 pupils in the Active Schools Cluster Badminton Championships held at Carolside Primary. All team members played extremely well, and after all of the amazing rallies and games, we finished a very respectable second.
Well done to all the participants, who represented the school fantastically and demonstrated great sportsmanship, whether in victory or defeat.
