The Big Bang!
Pupils in P5,6,7 will be performing the the Scottish Opera’s, “The Big Bang” on Wednesday afternoon at 2.15pm. Parents of children in these classes are invited along to watch the performance. All the children have been very busy learning the songs and finding out about different forms of energy as part of the Science fortnight.The Big Bang Show! takes performers on a whistle-stop tour of the creation of the universe and explores the wonderful world of ENERGY. Three groups represent the different types of energy – wind, water and sun, fossil fuels and nuclear power. Each led by their own champions, they debate which is best, until Gaia (Mother Earth) points out that unless humans begin to take real reponsibilty for their use of fossil and nuclear powers, the Earth will die. She urges them to learn the lessons of natural powers while there is still time…P5 Clyde in the Classroom Project

Sport your Trainers Day
On Monday 12th March, Commonwealth Day, we will be taking part in ‘Sport your Trainers’ day. Sport Your Trainers is a national campaign to encourage everyone across the country to wear their trainers on Commonwealth Day and aimed at raising the profile of the 2014 Commonwealth Games, here in Glasgow. Pupils are asked to make a £1.00 donation.
P2 Assembly
The P2s will be holding their assembly on Wednesday 29th February at 9.15am. Parents are invited to come along and see the children sharing some of their learning and work from the inter-disciplinary learning around the theme of ‘Weather’.
Euroquiz Competition
Well done to the Euroquiz team: Catriona, Reuel, Tain, Eilidh and Liam. After 3 rounds they were tied for 1st place with St Joseph’s with 51 points. Unfortunately, in the head-to-head tie question, they lost!

Busby’s Got Brains!
Our next House Trauchle is “Busby’s Got Brains”. This will take place next Thursday 9th February. The House and Vice Captains are busy developing questions for the event. We’re sure the children will enjoy this challenge.
Parent Council Race Night 3rd Feb. 7.30pm Masonic Hall, Busby
Come along to the Parent Council Race night this Friday. Tickets are still available £5.00 from Ishay or Valerie. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8.00pm start.
If anyone is able to volunteer to help set up or clear away at the end, your support would be greatly appreciated.
Burns Poetry, Art and Song Competition
This year we will be celebrating Scottish poetry and songs to celebrate the life and work of Robert Burns. Each class will select poems to learn and recite. The top three recitals will perform at special assemblies on the 25th January. Child in P5 – 7 also have the opportunity, if they wish, of learning a Scottish song to perform. Pupils in P6 and 7 may also wish to enter the Art competition to illustrate a verse from a Scottish poem.
Please supoprt your child by helping them to learn and recite their chosen poem. We look forward to hearing them.
P7 Christmas Lunch
The P7 Christmas lunch at Skinny Malinkys, paid for by the Parent Council, will be on Wednesday 21st December. Children can bring their own clothes to change into.

Winter Service
Our Winter Service will be held at Busby Church on Thursday 22nd December at 9.45. The service will be led by P5 with other classes supporting them. We look forward to seeing you all there.
Pop Connections Concert
The Pop Connections Concert is on Wednesday 14th December at 6.30pm at Greenbank Church. All children should be there for 6.20pm. Full school uniform should be worn.
