Showcase Preparation ๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿ“–

Today we spent time preparing for our Campaigners Swap Shop Event. We were amazed at the amount of pre-loved items that had been donated as well as the wide variety of books and teddies ๐Ÿงธ

We split into small groups and created signs that we will display at our desk when visitors arrive to the swap shop.

The Campaigners: Exploring the Fast Fashion Industry ๐Ÿ›๏ธ

Today we continued to explored Fast Fashion and looked more closely at the rights of workers.

We started by ranking different factors that we consider when buying a T-shirt. We identified colour, brand, ย price, fit and fabric as being very important. Meanwhile we donโ€™t often think about the wages of the worker that made the product, where the product came from or the conditions of the factory that it was produced in ๐Ÿค”

We then took part in a role play where we were the factory workers and had to produce 3 caps in an allocated time frame to receive our wages ๐Ÿ’ฐ

After our caps had been quality assured by the manager we then had to decide how to spend our wages. We discussed afterwards how these choices are also the choices that workers in the fast fashion industry have to face everyday ๐Ÿญ

We went on to create our Fair Factory Charters and ensured that the rights of workers would be upheld โญ๏ธ

November Newspaper ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ

Our first edition of the Mearns Marvellous Mail arrived this week and we have been busy selling it to other classes throughout the school ๐Ÿซ

Today we had different groups organising the coins that we have collected as payment and calculating the total!

In 2 days we have raised over ยฃ200! A fantastic effort P6.20 ๐Ÿ“ฐ

Persuasive Peer Reviewing โœ๐Ÿผ

Today we had the opportunity to read some persuasive writing pieces from Primary 7.26. The piece was focused on Lockerbie ๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒณโ˜€๏ธ and convincingย  the Primary 6โ€™s to go next year. ย We enjoyed reading each of the persuasive letters in pairs and giving feedback ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

Maths Problem Solving ๐Ÿ’ญ

This morning we worked in small groups to complete maths problem solving challenges. We were presented with groups of numbers, fractions, clocks or dominoes and had to identify โ€˜which one doesnโ€™t belongโ€™ and why. We then annotated the paper with our observations that the other groups could then agree with or add to. We showed great communication and teamwork throughout this task ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ
