Coding Week 2 πŸ’»

Today we began coding our Scratch games and focused on creating a setting and a character for our game.

We then began adding code using the tutorials to allow our characters moving around within the game.

Designers Week 1 πŸ”¨

We has a great first session in the MakerSpace today for the start of our Designers Pathway πŸ”¨ we used our session to tinker with different tools and equipment through various stations. We used Kapla blocks to create structures, the Makedo sets to practice using tools including screwdrivers, nails and paper saws. We also used the woodwork trolley to practice sawing and learnt the importance of the safety procedures including wearing goggles. Finally we used straws to make structures in small groups.

Science

During our Science lessons this term we looked into how natural resources and materials are being used and the importance of their conservation. We have discussed the impact of our actions on the environment and decided to make posters encouraging others to take different steps to help out planet.

This term, we also worked with magnets, investigating which objects are magnetic and how magnetic field works. We conducted a series of challenges to see how magnets exert a non-contact force and then designed, constructed and played our own games using magnets. It was lots of fun!

Next, we made mind maps of what Energy is and talked about different types of Energy. We talked about heat, sound, light and electrical energy and we are able to identify examples of different sources of energy.

WEEKLY OVERVIEW: 13TH JANUARY

Welcome back!

Sorry for the delay and confusion, but I think I have finally managed to sort all homework booklets!

This week, I have highlighted the page in homework books which should be completed, and then we will just move through them one week at a time.

Over and above the weekly homework tasks (Spelling, Phonics, Reading Book and Maths), children are invited to take part in our next Burns’ themed House Challenge. One winner will be selected from each house in our class, and those winners will then progress to compete against the other classes in P2. If your child wishes to enter, they should learn a verse of a Burns poem or song, and recite it in class on Thursday (16th)Β aftermoon. The finalists from each class will then perform again on Friday (17th). The following website is good for children:

Please continue to make use of the communication sheet, if there is anything that needs brought to my attention.

Regards,

Mrs Cassidy
