Designers Week 3 π¨
Yesterday we had our third session in the MakerSpace and our aim was to complete our plant pot design. We all achieved this successfully which means that we are ready to decorate our pots next week to round off this block.
We had a reflection in class about the challenges that we faced last week, some wood bases did not stick together and it was challenging to cut wood exactly to size. Therefore today we discussed alternatives where we could use such as cardboard which is easier to cut and can be reinforced with foam to stop the water from the plants leaking. Or alternatively we discussed continuing with our wood bases and using wood glue, cellotape, masking tape or creating indents to create the walls π¨
We also discussed the importance of using our meta-skills to overcome challenges during the design process, in particular adapting, collaborating and focusing π
Writing Biographies βπΌ
Over the last few weeks we have been developing our writing when creating a Biography. We have learnt that these are factual recounts of a persons life and include subheadings. The class have enjoyed researching individuals of our choice and have created some excellent pieces of writing on musicians, artists, historical figures and sports people to name but a few βπΌ
Designers Week 2 πͺ
Today in Designers we began creating our plant pot based. We spoke about the importance of measuring accurately in order that the container could fit inside and then we carefully cut the wood to fit our measurements πͺ we then used wood glue to stick it together ππΌ
New Lanark Trip π
We had a great day at New Lanark for our Primary 6 trip. All groups got the chance to experience a Victorian classroom, the Annie MacLeod experience and ride, a guided of the grounds and an interactive tenement museum!

Scots Language π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
We have been very busy for Scots language week, Today we attended our Giglets storytelling event of the Tommy Foghorn tale, We learnt new phrases in Scots and very much enjoyed the interactive session online. This afternoon we were treated to a performance, telling the tale of Robert Burns life, with songs and stories π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
French π«π·
Today Miss Johnston led us in a lesson all about French sports. We learnt lots of new vocabulary and worked at different stations developing our pronunciation and skills ππΌπ«π·
Designers Week 1 π¨
We has a great first session in the MakerSpace today for the start of our Designers Pathway π¨ we used our session to tinker with different tools and equipment through various stations. We used Kapla blocks to create structures, the Makedo sets to practice using tools including screwdrivers, nails and paper saws. We also used the woodwork trolley to practice sawing and learnt the importance of the safety procedures including wearing goggles. Finally we used straws to make structures in small groups.
Gaelic Session π¬
Today we had a great introduction to Gaelic session ahead of Scots language week ππΌ we learnt songs, the alphabet and some common phrases ππΌ
Campaigners Showcase ποΈβ¨
We hosted our swap shop today for the school and it was a huge success! We sold out of all toys, teddies and games and donated the remaining books to the school library π
