Today we are welcoming classes from Primary 4 and 5 to try our new Scratch games π» first of all we tried each other’s and displayed our posters with instructions on how to play!

Great effort from the whole class today at our Olympic Themed Sports Day! We enjoyed races, games and new activities in the sunshine π
After our Olympic themed Opening Ceremony for our Sports Day, we had a special visit from Sarah Ardlington, 2 time Commonwealth Gold Medalist π₯ Β we interviewed her for our next edition of the newspaper π°
We then had a judo taster session with P6.24 in the gym hall π₯
Today we added score boards and high score boards to our games, we were also adding other finishing touches ahead of our showcase event π»
Today we added code to our games using tutorials. We also began adding sounds for our characters to make during the game when jumping or collecting rewards.
Today we began coding our Scratch games and focused on creating a setting and a character for our game.
We then began adding code using the tutorials to allow our characters moving around within the game.
We have begun our series of French lessons and DuoLingo learning in P6.20 π«π·
We have been working to develop our grammar through practising key vocabulary and phrases with our partners and Miss Hardie. We then extend our French learning further through reading, listening, writing and reading tasks on DuoLingo π¬
Today we began our new block of Mearns Masters – The Coders π»
Over the next 5 weeks we will be working on Scratch to code a game that matches our remit: Create a game that includes a character flying or jumping, collecting rewards and a scoreboard that goes up.
We looked at ideas from previous years and discussed adding sounds, settings and challenges within our game.
We then created storyboards for our games to plan how our game will develop as we add code.
A great start to this pathway and we are looking forward to beginning our code on Scratch for our new games next week π»
This morning we attended the Giglets Event for Earth day π the text βMarineβ looked at our oceans and the effect that plastic pollution is having on wildlife π
We created our own persuasive pieces during the presentation βπΌ
We worked in groups and used our engineering skills to create different structures with the KβNex. We built a wide range of creations including a theme park, lawnmowers, cars, stadiums and ferris wheels π‘
