Ukrainian Paska ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ

For our last turn in the kitchen the children in P4.19 chose to make Ukrainian paska. This was a first for everyone and we really enjoyed the process!

ย Some pupils liked using their hands to combine the dough more that others! ๐Ÿ–ย ๐Ÿคšย

After some proving time and enjoying decorating our dough it was time to taste, another success! Recommending some slightly altered cooking times next time due to a very efficient oven, however smiles all round!

Throughout our time in the kitchen, P4.19 have been reflecting on different meta skills, they chose to assess their focus, collaboration and communication skills. As the weeks went on P4.19 all saw positive improvements to their team work, in particular being able to refer to the recipe, take turns and support each other during each step. Pupils not only enjoyed the cooking experience but also became a dab hand at cleaning up and learnt many new skills practising!

Maths week in PE โฑ

Maths continues into PE this week when pupil competed in different time challenges including a class plank challenge!

We then played an adapted version of corners working out different number problems ย to pick the corner that was out next, the rain might have stopped us going out but it didnโ€™t stop us having fun!

Finally, when there was a break in the rain we headed outside to play a game that relied on knowledge and reflexes about even and odd numbers.

Pupils competitively took part trying to beat the class and their partners!

๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Blueberry Pancakes ๐Ÿฅž

Now time to learn about countries around Canada and a little about one of their wonderful dishes.

Pupils are building their confidence in the kitchen and enjoying some baking today to mix things up. Since it was maths week too children were taking extra care in weighing and measuring all of their ingredients to help in the success of their pancakes!

Once the batter was ready, it was time to cook! the big blueberries made this a slow process however it was worth the wait…

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Red Lentil Dahl ๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿณ ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ

Just like that itโ€™s time to cook again!

Pupilโ€™s started looking at all the countries near India, then they headed to the kitchen to learn how to make some red lentil dahl. The smells of the spices were very rich today, which some liked and some thought were quite strong. However with the end results we had so many pupils asking for seconds and even thirds! ย A firm favourite with P4.19 so far!
