22nd March – 26th March

This week we have been using looking at number bonds to 20 and different ways to show them.

We used lots of different activities to help us with our number bonds.

In social studies we have been learning all about Knights and Castles. We learned about the different parts of knights armour and what knights lives were like.

We have also been learning about different types of patterns and how to practise mindfulness when we feel upset.

In health and well-being we thought about kindness and what it means to be a good friend. We created kindness posters and thought about lots of ways to be kind to others.

Triangles and Friends of Ten

The weather was chilly and drizzly this morning but it didn’t dampen our spirits as we went on a triangle hunt and organised ourselves into a triangle before we started our other activities.

We were learning today about ‘friends of ten’ , that’s two numbers that add together to make ten. This is a really important part of numeracy and we all have to learn these facts so we know the pairs without even having to think about it! Here are some photos of us playing and working on remembering the facts.

15th March – 19th March

This week we have been focusing on science and maths as part of our STEm fortnight. We have been looking at lots of different areas of science and maths.

We have been working on lots of ways to show different number bonds and looking at making symmetrical pictures. We also had a video call with an engineer and we designed our own railways of 5e future!

We also had a great time at our mini sports day. We took part in lots of different activities in the lovely warm weather.

Outdoor learning

A great outdoor learning session was had by all today in the sun. After organising ourselves into the shape of a square we played some warm up games focusing on listening and watching before heading off to explore the school grounds.

We learned all about keeping safe and making decisions to make sure we are never at high risk of being hurt or finding ourselves in a dangerous situation.

After that, we had fun making squares out of sticks remembering that a square must have four equal sides and four right angles.
