March 1st -March 5th

This week we have been revising our number bonds to 20. We used lots of different resources and went outside to draw what we knew.

We had World Book Day this week as well! We discussed our favourite books and made scary monster bookmarks.

We also had lots of fun at Values Play and were practising our speed and throwing skills during p.e.

14.12 – 18.12

This week p2.7 have had lots of festive fun!

We were so lucky to watch the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. Thank you again to everyone who helped make this possible, everyone really enjoyed it.

The pupils finished their salt dough decorations and painted them carefully. We finished them off with glitter too which the pupils will bring home today.

On Wednesday we had our very own Christmas party in the classroom. Everyone helped to decorate the class and had  lots of fun playing all the games!

Everyone also followed instructions so carefully on how to draw a picture of the Grinch. The results were fantastic!

As usual everyone has had a great time seeing what Jingles has been doing. Today he had a special surprise for the class. Santa had lifted his magic for a short time so everyone could give him a big hug. We talked about what we had enjoyed and what we were looking forward to in the holidays.

Its been a great and busy week! I hope everyone has a great holiday!

Happy Holidays everyone!

7.12-11.12

This week the pupils have been working on their imaginative writing.

We had to create our own Christmas story and use lots of adjectives to make it interesting.

We have also been learning about verbs and how to spot them in writing. We sorted verbs into the correct categories.

For RME we have been learning about the Christmas story.

We discussed what we already knew and watched videos and PowerPoints to help us.

Everyone then performed some great re-enactments from parts of the Christmas Story by using our drama skill called Freeze Frames.

As usual we have had lots of fun finding where our elf Jingles is hiding every morning!

First week of December!

This week we have had a very busy week.

All of p2.7’s hard work paid off in their persuasive letters to Santa and we received an elf!

The elf has been named Jingles and everyone has had lots of fun finding the elf. Jingles really enjoyed being read to by everyone and hearing all their reading books.

We also wrote letters to Santa this week using our persuasive writing skills to politely ask for presents.

For our grammar lesson this week we went on a noun hunt around the classroom. We tried to find as many nouns as we could and had great fun!

For our values play this week we went outside and had great fun building the biggest snowmen we could!

A special visitor!

This week Primary 2.7 had a very special visitor.

Santa visited our classroom at night and delivered a very special letter to us all.

We had to learn to write a persuasive letter to help Santa decide to send us a special elf for December.

We all learnt how to write a letter and made sure to include the address for Santa on the envelope.

After we had carefully written our letters we posted them by using Santa’s magic postbox.

Let’s hope we all find out soon whether 2.7 will get an elf or not!

Science

This term we have been working hard and having lots of fun doing Science. We’ve learned about materials and their properties. We have designed and made mini umbrellas, which we then tested by pouring water over them. We were very happy to discover that most of them worked really well and came up with ideas of how to improve the ones that didn’t work.

We have talked about living and non-living things. We are able to tell what the features of living things are and sort them into different categories and explain our decision.

We have also looked at the examples of forces (pushing, pulling and twisting) in the classroom and in the playground, predicting how applying more or less force would change the speed and direction at which objects moves.

Bonfire night

This week we have been learned  all about bonfire night.

We learned why we celebrate it and the different ways people celebrate it.

For our writing we wrote fantastic senses poems all about bonfire night and thought about everything we experience.

We also made our own firework scratch artwork which turned out fantastic!

Halloween!

We have had a very spooky week in primary 2.7.

We took part in lots of Halloween activities and even made our own potions. We decided on our ingredients and wrote out how we would make them.

Today was also our Freaky Friday Fundraiser. We had lots of fun and took part in different activities. Everyone had their Halloween costumes on as well and they were all fantastic!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Maths week

This week is maths week!

We have been looking at lots of different maths activities this week. We were looking and recognising different types of coins and discussed when we use money. The class ran their own pizza restaurant using their knowledge about money.

We also used ICT games to consolidate our knowledge about counting and number recognition and used counting sheets as well.

We took our learning outside and created symmetrical pictures of our own choosing.

31.08.20 – 05.09.20

This week we have been focusing on number bonds and revising our numeracy skills.

We had a lot of fun thinking of all the ways to make 10 and discussed our ideas with everyone.

We have been working on our writing this week and wrote some sentences together as a class. We have also been learning about reading comprehension skills and practising these using our reading books.

During our choosing time everyone was working on their numeracy skills by writing out calculations and playing addition games with cards.
