Last week of p2.7!

We have had a fantastic last week of p2.7!

At the beginning of the week all the pupils performed fantastic solo talks about their new inventions and business ideas.

At the end of the week we decorated the class and made our own empire biscuits. We then had a great time at our end of year party. We played lots of games and had a great time!

Its been a fantastic year and I hope everyone has a great summer and enjoys primary 3!

Happy summer from all of p2.7!

Outdoor music fun

What a beautiful day to enjoy making music outside. We learned all about the beat of music and how rhythms fit into that beat. Today we learned “ta” and “te te”.

7th June – 11th June

This week we have been focusing on money.

We have been calculating change and using coins to help us money work out adding money together.

We have also been revising our greater than and less than and practising our mental maths skills.

Today we had a great time for our Dress to Express day! It was great to see so many people taking part and everyone looked fantastic. Thank you again to the PTA for organising.

Outdoor number creating and exchanging

Even though our morning’s weather was quite dull we enjoyed brightness in our mood as we worked through our activities for the morning.

We started off getting ourselves into the shape of a triangle and playing a game to practise counting in threes.

Moving on to investigating place value and how to say larger numbers using some number stones.

Before collecting buttercups and playing an exchanging game in teams aiming to build a buttercup tree! We didn’t quite get it completed, so we will definitely play it again next week.

1st June – 4th June

P2.7 have a had a very busy week!

Everyone had a great time at the sports day. We took part in races, tug of war, obstacle courses, beat the goalie and even archery!

We have also been focusing lots on our spelling knowledge and on our knowledge of money.

We have been playing lots of games around money.  Some of the children even made their own restaurant and used real life examples of money!

Colour matching and creating flowers

We had a great session outside in the dry but cool morning today. Colour analysis and matching was our first activity. We discussed the colours we found in great detail and it was so interesting to talk to each other about all the different shades while we compared them to colours on our magazines.

After playtime we went back out and studied some flowers before painting our very own, using daisies as natural paintbrushes.

Mini beast hunting and studying

We started out our lesson today sharing our current knowledge of mini beasts, and we came up with quite a list of names!

After that we went off in pairs to try and find some and think about where they choose to live and why. There was lots of fabulous chat about many of them liking the dark, under stones and rotting wood and how some seem to like sitting on dandelions. We even dug up some grass and soil to investigate and try to answer Adam’s question about how deep worms go.

Unfortunately the rain came on really heavily, so we decided to go back indoors…we took our mini beasts with us as decided to create some labelled diagrams after analysing them under a microscope.

10th May – 14th May

This week we have been learning our new phonics sounds and used lots of creative ways to help with our spelling.

We have been learning all about hundreds, tens and units and how to exchange and carry numbers. We used lots of materials to help with our knowledge of this.

We also learned all about Eid. We discussed why is is such an important day and made lanterns decorated with Eid designs to celebrate. We wish everyone a great weekend and hope everyone had a great Eid!
