This was a short week, but we have managed to learn quite a lot in maths. We have started looking at the number fact families, practised subtraction using concrete materials-counters/number lines, and also revised double numbers.

We continued being creative using our imagination skills with construction materials; Lego’s, Kaplas and with little world settings. We kept on challenging ourselves making more and more complex structures. Look at our beautiful creations!
We continued working hard in maths as we practised addition, subtraction, number stories and number sequences. We are using different maths games, concrete materials and loose parts to help us understand our tasks.
We are getting good at writing our own stories. First we have to plan our stories with the help of the story boards. We decided what our characters would be, the settings, problems and then solutions. We were very proud to share our stories with the class!
This week Mrs Patra transformed our stage area into a de-constructive role play corner. We were so excited to play there as we can use any resources we want, and can pretend to be any character we like! Look at how busy we were this week. A big thanks to all the parents who kindly donated all the resources for us to play.
Visitors from JP Morgan came today in our class and told us about the creating a new App contest. We can create any games we like and then a group of specialists will create the new winning App design and download it on the App Store. We are very excited to design our new App. We all have a template in our homework folders and will have to return our designs before 13th February.
In maths we worked on symmetry this week. We know what the line of symmetry is, and we know that both sides of it are same. We were asked to make our own creations on symmetry using rulers and anything we can find in our class. It was great fun! We were very imaginative and we also tried to complete symmetrical figures on paper.
This week we focused on our writing skills. We have had lots of practice on letter formation, handwriting, writing words, phrases and even writing our own stories. We’re getting good at checking our own work as well as checking our friend’s works!
We have started learning subtraction using concrete materials and loose parts. We are using our jotters a lot now in the class. We also have had lots of practice on addition and a quick revision of telling time.
We were learning about Chinese New Year – the year of rat: 2020. We have learned about the story of the great animal race. We made animal masks and Chinese lanterns.
