This week in P1, we investigated why leaves change their colour in Autumn & then fall off. We had a class discussion on the possible reasons behind it & then watched a video explaining the reason. There were few tricky words but now we know about “chlorophyll”( the green pigment in leaves) & why the leaves change colour. We loved learning about the leaves & will continue our leaf study next week!

Diwali!!!
This week, we have been learning about “Diwali”- the biggest hindu festival. It is the Festival of Lights & Colours. We loved watching the Diwali story & singing the Diwali song. We made “diyas “- little lamps made with paper (which was very tricky, especially folding the paper). We worked on beautiful Rangoli patterns & tried to make Rangoli with shapes, marbles, colours & even with our favourite Lego blocks!
The Zumba way!
What could be a better way to finish off an exciting week other than Zumba? We all enjoyed the dance steps with our favourite music – a perfect balance of rhythm, beats, body co-ordination, & most of all it was a perfect recipe for fun!
Measuring length
In maths, we learned how to measure lengths of different objects. We used hand span, foot span & cubits to measure how long things were in our classroom. We measured books, tables & even the length of our entire classroom. It was great fun!
Maths fun!
Phonics-new sounds
This week, we learned three new sounds-l, f & b. We did our Jolly Phonics activities, sang the songs, letter formation & also practised blending the sounds to make words. Look how hard we worked on these sounds!
Defib week
In P 1.1, we had lots of visitors in this Defib week. Sam the anaesthetist was our first visitor. He told us about different emergency services & showed us lots of pictures. We had fun with the doctor’s stethoscope, caps, bandages & special mask that puts people to sleep. It was fun hearing our heartbeats!
Next, we were visited by a team of nurses who taught us how to do CPR. We all watched a video & then practised CPR on our teddies. We are so proud to be CPR trained!

Abstract art with shapes
It was maths week & in P 1.1 we did some amazing artwork with the shapes. At first we looked at Russian artist Olga Rozanova’s abstract art with different shapes & then made our own creations. We were very imaginative & Mrs Patra was really proud to see our creativity!
Sounds of the week
This week we learned three new sounds “g”, “o” & “u”. Have a look at how hard we worked on these sounds!
