Mechanics
We have been building with screws and metal strips this week and constructing different things. It was quite fiddly at first, but we got there in the end!
Christmas Assembly
We watched the virtual Christmas assembly today and learned that it was important to share our love and be kind. The ministers from Mearns Parish, Mearns Parish, and Kirkhill Parish led our assembly.
Lego Village
Some days, we build the most amazing things with Lego. Today, a Lego village appeared on the floor! There was lots of discussion about all the different parts of the village.
Party! Party!
Our Christmas Party was a big success today. We played lots of games and ate our snacks. We played the corners games, musical statues, musical hops, pass the sprout and we had lots of great dancers! It was quite exhausting!
Designing Stamps for Thank You Cards
We learned about how Rowland Hill was the first person to invent and design stamps. Pigeons used to carry messages and later they were taken by mail coach, pulled by horses.
We used vege gelatine and mixed it with water and then painted it on paper. Mrs. Arbuckle cut the stamps out and we designed them.
We then wrote thank you cards to our families to thank them for the things that they do for us. We stuck our stamps on the envelopes.
Mathematician Of The Day
We learned about Katherine Johnson, who worked for NASA. She was a mathematician who devolved a calculation that enabled Apollo 11 to orbit the earth and land on the moon. This was made even more difficult for her as she was a black woman. She was amazing.
We made our rockets and modified the straws to enable them to fly. It was quite tricky. We took them outside to test them.
Tree Decorations
We hope you liked our tree decorations. Mrs Arbuckle bought us the wood and we decorated it . We enjoyed designing them.
Jack And The Beanstalk Panto
We all wore our Christmas jumpers and broughtalong our snacks for our panto today. We booed the baddie and joined in the fun. (Oh yes we did!) We had an interval and ate our snacks and then shuffled about before we settled down to the second half of the performance.
STEM Coding Panto
We watched a coding panto about Goldilocks and how to ensure that she used the correct algorithm for the robot to make the right porridge. We were able to shout out and we also decided what she had to do. It was good fun!
