HALLOWEEN DISCO UPDATE

Halloween Disco Update
  • We hope all the boys and girls had a fantastic time at the Halloween disco. They all looked incredible in their costumes. We are delighted to announce that the disco raised £637, £500 of which we will donate to our reading resource campaign, with the rest added to our general fundraising pot. We appreciate all of your support.

A special thank you goes to Mr Howie for his amazing experiments, Miss Orr, Mrs Beveridge and Mr Gilroy for keeping the disco flowing, our P7 volunteers who helped run the door and support our younger pupils, and our brilliant helpers who applied glitter tattoos and staffed the tuck shop and lucky dip. We hope wehaven’t missed anyone but we really appreciate everyone’s efforts to make the night so much fun for our children.

MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING 27TH SEPTEMBER 2024

We are delighted to invite you to our Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 27th September 9:30am – 11:45am. All donations raised on the day are made to Macmillan Cancer Support. Children are asked to bring a donation (cash) and they will be given juice and a piece of home baking. Baking will not be on sale for children, it is available for adults only. If any baking is left over, children will be offered it after lunch.

We will be very grateful for any donations of home or shop bought baking. Donations can be brought to school from Wednesday 25th September. Please ensure any containers are labelled with the name of your child and their class so that they can be returned after the Coffee Morning. Due to allergies, we kindly ask that you avoid baking containing nuts. The school cafeteria will kindly provide a piece of baking for any pupil with an identified food allergy.

Due to allergies and personal preferences, we would be grateful if you could complete the permission Form below for your child. If you have more than one child in the school, please complete an additional form.

Each class will visit the Coffee Morning for a short time to enjoy a piece of baking and a juice. Please see timetable below for the time slot each class will visit.

FAMILY BOOKSHELF BORROW

Family Borrow Bookshelf

Our Reading Schools Pupil Group have created a Family Borrow Bookshelf  and it can be found in the Main Reception Area.  The plan is for the Borrow Bookshelf to sit outside the main door to allow for easy access but for now it will remain indoors until the weather improves.  We would like to encourage parents/carers/grandparents and families to borrow a book or two and also add one or two of their own that they have finished with.  The children are really excited about this venture and we are hoping it will allow families to access a variety of books for free.  Please feel free to pop in and have a look!

Thanks

The Reading Schools Group

JUPITER PARENT LETTER

Dear Parent/Carer,

EAC – Journey to Jupiter

We are delighted to be participating in East Ayrshire Council’s new Active Travel
initiative Journey to Jupiter this session. The aim of this project is to get young
people walking to school in a bid to further reduce our carbon emissions here in
East Ayrshire, while also reducing congestion at our school gates and promoting
Active Travel.

Each time our young people travel to/from school by walking, scooting/cycling,
they will earn an S-mile for their class.

Park & Stride – pupils will earn an S-Mile even if they walk part of the journey
to/from school. A walking circuit will be available in the playground for pupils who
travel to school by taxi/bus and for any pupil who wishes to gather bonus S-miles
for their class during break/lunch times.

Bonus S-Miles can be earned by parents/siblings/staff walking the journey to
school too. Class walks, outings and Daily Mile time also earn S-Miles for classes.
Classes will receive certificates/rewards each time they set a new walking record
for their class. We will collate our S-Miles each week in school and send our totals
to the Climate Change Team at East Ayrshire Council each month.
The Launch!

Once all participating schools have banked 444,000 S-Miles, we will have enough
power bars to launch our EAC Clean Green rocket, sending it all the way to Jupiter.
We will begin collecting S-Miles on Tuesday 26
th September and continue to
gather as many as we can throughout the year.

Thank you in advance for supporting our Journey to Jupiter.
From our NRPS Climate Champions

Please see below a letter regarding the Jupiter initiative.
