THURSDAY 30th APRIL

Good morning P4A. I hope you are all well and happy. We are super impressed by how you are all coping and the effort you are putting in to your tasks. Well done!

Today’s tasks are as follows:

Literacy for Thursday AND Friday –  I should like you to research the collective nouns for the following animals. A collective noun is the name for a group of something, in this case, animals.

Ants, Bats, Fishes, Foxes, Geese, Monkeys

Then, on Friday, I should like you to make a really silly story using as many of these collective nouns as you can. The sillier the better!  It would be great if it was illustrated but not essential. Please also use some of your amazing WOW words to pepper your story!

Please upload this to Teams.

Please also finish your BugClub book, ensuring you have answered all questions carefully and with lots of detail.

Also, on Friday, ask your family or friends (via video?) to test you on any spelling words. Perhaps have a virtual Spelling Bee for fun! Don’t need to submit anything but please hit “hand in” so that I know you have completed this task.

As far as we are aware, no one in our class is using their eportfolios to post their work. If you are,  you must let us know or they will not be checked.

Numeracy – We are now looking at Data Handling in Maths.

So, I should like you to do a survey amongst your friends and family to show their opinions on something. For example, you can ask about their favourite colour, sport or hobby.

You can give them choices or use their answers to generate your choices. Give your survey a bright and interesting title and use tally marks to record answers.

No need to record anything for this although please hit “hand in” once you have done it but keep your notes for next week as we shall use this to do further Data Handling work.

Please also test yourself on your tables. You can do this as you wish – painting, chalking, writing, Hit The Button … Just hit “hand in” to tell me you have completed this task.

PE – A PE lesson has also been loaded for you.

Have a great day!

Mrs Green

Wednesday 29th April

Good morning P4. We had another super day yesterday with lots of you posting work on Teams. Well done for all the effort you are putting into your work. It’s great to see you all engaging with school work and having fun with it too.

As soon as you come on to Teams or the Blog this morning can you go on YouTube and go to ‘Mr Colvin The Daily Daft’ and try out today’s challenge. It is a teacher from another school who has set up daily (daft) challenges to keep you entertained during this time. Let everyone know how you got on by either posting a photo, a video clip or writing about it on the Playground Channel.

I will be on here between 11.30-12.30pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat.

Remember to try and upload all your work by 4pm today- if you don’t manage that don’t worry as I’ll keep an eye out over the rest of the week for anyone that is struggling to complete it by the end of the day.

Enjoy the rest of your week and the challenges set to you by Mrs Green and I will speak to you all on Monday. Remember to please keep in touch!

*Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams*

Monday 27th April- Daily Tasks

Good morning P4. I hope you all had a super weekend in the sunshine and managed to do lots of fun things at home. This morning your assignments will go live at 10am and I will be on here between 11.30-12.30pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat. They do not need to be completed until Wednesday giving you a few days to complete. Tuesday and Wednesday’s assignments will go live at 10am tomorrow, just as we did last week.

Last week we assigned your Easter news as a Super Star task and you were to present it in a way of your choosing.  What a fantastic amount of work was handed in, from power point presentations and newspaper articles to photographs, giant bunnies and written paragraphs.  We had a lovely time looking at what you had all been up to but it made mine and Mrs Green’s job of picking just one extremely tricky.  The fact that you all managed to hand in such wonderful work makes you all worthy super stars in our eyes so the decision was made that we would put all the names in a hat of the people that handed their work in and pick the winner that way.  Make sure you look at the school blog to find out who got their name pulled out the hat.

I would just like to remind you all that you are all doing a super job in what we can all say is an extremely difficult time. I know many of you will have parents out at work each day or working from home so completing school work, alongside siblings, can be very tricky. All I ask is that you do your best and manage what you can. If you can complete these then great- but if for some reason you are unable to do them all then please don’t worry about it or stress. I am here for you to talk to or if mum and dads need any help. My job is to make things as manageable for you as possible and for you to have fun in what you’re learning.

So to start our day I would like you to share any news you have from your weekend. It can be typed on the post or a photograph of what you did. We had a lovely time in our garden with Eva playing in her paddling pool and on Sunday she made burgers with her daddy for our BBQ. Have a great day and have fun!

*Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams*

Numeracy 27th April

Complete the column sums on the worksheet provided below.  Remember if an answer is greater than 9 then you have to carry the number to the next column (8+8 =16 (10+6) you put the 6 in the units column and the 1(10) in the tens column.  You do not need to complete every sum.  Do as many as you think you need practice with.

I have also added a link for you to look at as a reminder on how to complete these sums.  They show you carrying the number and writing at the top but we have put it at the bottom when doing in class.

You can either write on the worksheet below or complete on paper and take a photograph and upload to your assignment.  Don’t worry about doing on squared paper- plain paper will be fine. *Remember to show your workings, not just the answer.

Friday 24 April – Daily Tasks

Good morning P4A. I hope you are all well and happy, ready to enjoy your weekend!

Your tasks for today are as follows:

Literacy

Choose an Activity from your Spelling Grid (found on this page) and complete on a piece of paper. Please then upload to Teams or your eportfolio.

Then finish and illustrate your Easter writing and hand in to Teams or load to your eportfolio.

Numeracy

Please find the Time Individual Practice Game 28 Marching Madness (2 dot) and play this. There is nothing to upload here but please tick the “hand in” button so that I know that you have done it.

Enjoy!

On a piece of paper, I should like you to draw 6 to 8 clocks and draw the times on them (it might be easier to use different colours for each hand so that it is clear which is which). Remember the big hand is for the minutes and the small hand is for the hour).

Underneath, I should like you to write the times in one or two ways, eg 2.15 and quarter past two

Health and Wellbeing

We are going to be learning about Food Groups. Therefore, I should like you to watch the attached Powerpoint and take some notes.

Food Groups

You don’t need to hand anything in but please keep your notes as we shall be using them next week.  Please also tick hand in so that I know that you have done this.

Don’t worry if you cant access the Powerpoint for some reason, just get some notes from Google by searching “food groups”.

Boys and girls, please do not stress about this work. Just do what you can manage and keep happy!

Have a lovely day.

Thursday 23 April Work for P4A

THURSDAY 23 APRIL – DAILY TASKS

Good morning P4A!  I hope that you are all well and happy. It sounds like most of you had a lovely Easter break and I look forward to reading about that.

The  tasks for today will go live at 10am as usual,  as well as the tasks for Friday,  so that you and your parents can manage work as suits your family.  Remember that parents have work to do too and that you can only ask for their help in between their own work. Be kind to each other so that nobody in your family falls out!

Thursday 23 April – Literacy Tasks

Please write out your Spelling words for this week 3 times (checking of course that the spelling was correct the first time!).  Then upload this to Teams.

You should let me know if you are unable to load to Teams so that I can check your eportfolio separately. As far as I am aware, no one in our class has needed to use eportfolios rather than Teams so I shall not be checking these unless you let me know otherwise.

For your Writing Exercise this week, I should like you to use the Easter words you have learned (or new ones if you wish) to write at least two paragraphs about the real meaning of Easter.  You may consult the Internet, books or an adult but please write the explanation in your own words. Please then upload to Teams.

Thursday 23 April – Numeracy Tasks

Games

I should like you to play the Hit The Button (Topmarks) Time Games.  This relates to your Time work. You don’t need to upload anything but please hit “hand in” on Teams so that I know you have done this work.

Textbook Work

Please complete Page 87 of SHM with the focus on Time.

You should write or type this and upload to Teams.

Thursday 23 April – French

We are revising the names for family in French. Please find attached some labels for family names.  Please look at these and try to learn some of them.

French Family Cards

Then, please draw some pictures of your family on paper/computer. Then label them with the French names. You can add any other family members you like (look at Google for help).

Please upload this to Teams.

Thursday 23 April – PE

There is also a PE activity to do, if you haven’t already done it.

Remember, it’s ok if you cant manage all the work, do what you can.

I shall be online from 10 till 11 then 1.30 till 2.30. Let me know if you need help or a chat.

Take lots of care and have a super day!

Wednesday 22nd April

Good morning P4. Another sunny day ahead of us today and for the rest of the week. I hope you’re making the most of the sunshine and coming up with innovative ways of spending your time. As soon as you come on to Teams or the Blog this morning can you tell everybody what fun and new things you have been doing inside or outside during the lockdown. Could we try and share these on the Playground Channel– that way all your classmates can have a bank of ideas of things that they might want to try out over the coming weeks.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the week and have a super weekend.

Tuesday 21st & Wednesday 22nd April- Daily Tasks

Good morning P4. We had a very successful day yesterday with nearly all of you engaging with the assignments and handing in some really good pieces of work. Try to upload your work to your assignment rather than the General Post if possible.

Monday 20th April- Daily Tasks

Good morning P4. I hope you have all had a super 2 weeks off and have made lots of lovely memories with your family in the super sunshine. I know I have enjoyed being out in the garden and having lots of BBQs while we can. The weather looks lovely all week so make sure you make the most of it and spend as much time as you can playing outside and getting fresh air.

*Can I please remind you that if you do upload your work on your e-portfolio that you let me know through the post on Teams*

Each morning your assignments will go live at 10am as usual, however I will set the hand-in time to be 4pm on Wednesday for all of them as I know it has been a little tricky for some of you to get logged on during the day. Some are finding it easier to complete work at night when parents have finished work and that is absolutely fine. This way you can decide when you want to complete your assignments, whether it is each day or at night, it is completely up to you. Whenever you finish an assignment upload and hand-in and I can give you your feedback (you don’t need to wait until Wednesday at 4pm).

I will be on here between 11.30-12.30pm and 2-3pm to answer any questions you have regarding work or if you just need a chat. Remember to use the channels on the left (Playground, Library, No Filter-Photos, Gym Hall) appropriately. If you are wanting a chat with your friends, please do so on the Playground channel.

As soon as you come on to Teams or the Blog this morning can you just write a little comment about how you’re feeling today and what you are looking forward to about ‘being back at school’.
