On Thursday 20th June, we had a very successful WoW day. The kids had a ball and enjoyed seeing the many different careers on offer in our big hall!
A huge thank you to Miss Grimley for organising this event And a big thank you to all our parents/carers and all who came to demonstrate and inspire the next generation with their fantastic displays of their profession.

Letters have gone home today regarding Breakfast Club. This year we have received over 60 requests for places, however, we continue to have only 30 spaces. This will result in a number of families not receiving a space.
As our Breakfast Club staffing is not authority funded but funded using our Pupil Equity Fund this means that spaces are allocated linked to a range of criteria including:
Receiving a place in previous years does not guarantee a space for the coming year. Daily fees of £1 ( currently supplemented to reduce costs to 80p) this covers the authority cost of food only.
If you have received a letter offering your child a space at Breakfast Club for Session 23/24 please return to the school office no later than Wednesday 26th June
We currently have a waiting list for spaces at breakfast club therefore if we don’t receive your letter by this date accepting the place allocated to your child we will assume that the place is no longer required and allocate the space to one of our waiting list children.
Thank you for your support with this.
The children have had a wonderful day at our singalong and dance-along fundraiser for the Martin Chambers Ecudor Trust.
At present we have managed to raise an AMAZING £1129, however if you still have any sponsor money you would like to donate this can be paid via Parentpay
Thankyou to everyone for sponsoring the children and helping to raise funds for this wonderful charity.
I would just like to say thank you all so much again for giving up your own time yesterday to help at our career day. Without all of your help it wouldn’t have been such a success! The children had a fantastic day learning different information about your job roles as well as having the opportunity to try on and use the equipment that was brought and have the opportunity to see the emergency service vehicles too! Mount Carmel are super grateful for you all and we hope you enjoyed our day too!
Thank you,
Miss Grimley
All sponsor money should be brought into school tomorrow morning.
The children will enjoy a day of celebrating everything Father Martin loved from coming together as a school to singing and dancing.
The chidren are encouraged to wear clothes that represent the colours of Ecuador (yellow, blue and red), a place very loved by Father Martin. If your child down not own clothes with these colours, please do not worry. It is simply a non uniform day then.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow and let’s raise some money for our dear friend ❤
The upper school enjoyed an afternoon of celebrations as a reward for all of their hard work during the rehearsals and performances of Matilda ❤️
P4 have been having a great time during their music technology inputs with Stuart from Sonappa.
We have been learning about melody and rhythm and have been using the functions of Garage Band to create our own digital compositions.
There are definitely some budding musicians in P4!

In certain circumstances class restructuring may have to take place during the summer break, after a school session has started or, in very exceptional circumstances, at any point during the year.
Children spent time with their new class teacher on Thursday afternoon.
P4 had a fantastic afternoon celebrating their First Communion.
We had a delicious cake made by the very talented Ann from the kitchen, and enjoyed some party games and dancing.
We were delighted to be joined by Fr.Jim.
We are so proud of the hard work of our wonderful pupils at Mount Carmel for all of their efforts towards making our school more eco friendly. Our Eco Committee have helped to drive forward changes within our school to gain our ‘Highly Commended Bronze Award’ through the Clean Green initiative as well as our green eco flag. This is only our first year in our eco journey so we are immensely proud of these achievements.
A special mention to Hannah and Sophia (P7), who introduced many eco strategies across the school and monitored their impact. Also, Mrs McGahon, our Eco Champion who has led our Eco Committee and supported our children throughout the year.
Hannah and Sophia attended the Clean Green Awards to collect our award and flag. They had a fantastic day networking with other schools. They enjoyed listening to all the eco friendly changes other schools have made.
Next Thursday 20th June is World of Work Day for the whole school. Children can come to school dressed as they please or as a profession they want to be.
Some of our wonderful parents/carers have kindly given up their time to come in to speak to and demonstrate their professions with the children. We have people from the Fire Service, Police, Health Visitors and Nurses to name a few. We will also have coaches from Kilmarnock Football Club and there will be refreshments for the adults.
Some of our Primary 4 children recently joined Sr Rose, Sr Mabel and Sr Juliet, to celebrate their feast day.
The children had great fun learning some traditional dances and they were delighted to take part in the offertory procession during the feast day Mass at St. Matthew’s Church.
Well done for your wonderful participation and fantastic dancing!
The staff and children would like to say a great big thank you to Beth for all of her hard work during rehearsals. She gave up her own free time to come along and help us choreograph the dances for our show. Take a Bow are very lucky to have such a talented girl on their staff ❤️
What an opening performance!! Amazing show by our amazing pupils.
If you haven’t got your tickets already then be quick, our evening performance is nearly sold out for tomorrow.
Here is a little clip of our wonderful children in their last song…
We were delighted to receive copies of the most recent Missio Newsletter which features some lovely pictures of some of our pupils and a touching tribute to Father Martin. The feature details the hard work both he and Mount Carmel Primary dedicated to Missio Scotland and to making Mount Carmel a five star Missio Scotland School.
You can view the newsletter below :
Could all P4 – P7 girls ensure that they come to school on Monday with hair ready for the community performance of the show (high ponytail, pig tails or french braid)
Girls are also welcome to bring some items of make up to wear for performances should they wish to do so.
We have a limited number of tickets left for both the afternoon and evening performances of our school show. If you have not purchased your tickets yet please do so now to avoid disappointment. If you have already purchased your limit of 4 tickets per family and would like additional tickets you can now do so on Parentpay.
Additional tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
We have had reports of unwanted “visitors” to some children we kindly ask that parents/carers routinely check their child/children’s hair for any of these unwanted “visitors” and take appropriate action if required
Thank you for your co-operation.
We are planning to go ahead with our sports day plan tomorrow and are looking forward to inviting our parents and carers in to see their children race. A few gentle reminders…
Please ensure that all children come to school dressed for sports day – they should not come dressed in school uniform and should wear sports clothing (as always – no football colours)
Please ensure that the clothes the children are wearing are weather appropriate – sensible shoes and a jacket if needed.
Please also ensure that the children have enough water for the day, they will be busy all day and have a timetable full of events.
Parents of classes are invited in as follows…
Primary 1 – 9:10
Primary 2 – 9:40
Primary 3 – 10:10
Nursery children – 11:00
Primary 4 – 11:30
Primary 5 – 12:00
Primary 6 – 1:30
Primary 7 – 2:10
We ask that when the classes have finished their races that the parents please leave swiftly to allow the next class set of parents to come in.
As always, we thank you for your support. Here’s hoping we get some sunshine!
