Dear Parents/Carers,
It is with very mixed feelings I write to tell you it is my intention to retire at Easter. I have worked in education for 36 years in a wide variety of roles but it has been my time at Mount Carmel, though short, that has been one of the highlights.
I informed East Ayrshire of my decision before Christmas and that has given sufficient time for the Head Teacher’s post to be advertised. The national advert is now live on Myjobscotland with the closing date of the 23rd January.
I am looking forward to my last few months in the school and will make sure the hand over to the new Head Teacher goes smoothly.
I will write to you later in the term and keep you up to date with any information to be shared. As always thank you for your support #Team Mount Carmel.
Kindest Regards
Mrs McConville.
Dear Parent/Carer,

Dear Parents/ Carers
Happy New Year to all of our Mount Carmel family past and present. I hope you had a restful Christmas despite the challenges. We are delighted to welcome all our children back and are looking forward to a term of fun and learning.
Mrs Carole McConville
Head Teacher
Lots of fun was had at their last Primary Christmas Party. Prizes, laughs, groovy moves and stuffing faces with cake. And of course, good old Scottish Country dancing!
A huge well done to the Primary 6/7 from last year who had written persuasive letters to the council asking them to resurface our playground as it was in a terrible state.
I am pleased to say that we now have a smooth concrete surface for the upper children to play on.
P1/2 had a super time at their Christmas party today 🎉🎉🎉! They all looked fabulous in their outfits and had lots of fun dancing and playing party games.
Grand Old Duke was a favourite!!
And of course the party snacks provided by the catering staff topped the afternoon off 😋!
Wishing all our Staff, pupils and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at Mount Carmel Primary !
Yesterday classes from Mount Carmel visited Crossgates Nursing Home to bring the residents some festive cheer! They had made lots of beautiful posters for the visit.
And our overall winner of our Star Prizes is: Rachel in P7
We raised an amazing £253 for the FOMC Christmas Raffle this year ! Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and helped us to reach this fantastic amount!
The draw takes place today at 2pm!
Please find attached the most recent letter to parents from the Head of Education, Linda McAulay-Griffiths.
The boys and girls in P1, P1/2 and P2/3 were given a wonderful surprise today………….Santa came to visit! Even though he is super busy, he made time to travel all the way from the North Pole to come and see us!!
We told Santa what we would like for Christmas and then we sang “Jingle Bells” to thank him for his visit.
We are delighted to share our fantastic Christmas shows with you all. Well done to all of our amazing pupils, teachers and assistants for completing such a fantastic job.

You and everyone at Mount Carmel Primary School did something amazing on Friday. By putting on a silly jumper you’ve helped to give children in the UK and all over the world the chance to be excited about the future again – because it’s much easier to see the magic out there when you’re safe, healthy and have a full tummy.
We would like to say a big ” Thank You” to FOMC for organising the ice-cream van last Friday.
The children absolutely loved it.
The school will close at 2.30pm on Wednesday 22nd December for the Christmas break.
Pupils who require taxis will be collected at 2pm.
Pupils and staff return on Thursday 6th January
A reminder that our last day , Wednesday 22nd December is Pyjama Day ! Children can come to school in their pyjamas and/or onesies if they wish.
