We were delighted to see everyone back at school yesterday after the summer break. We hope you all had a wonderful summer and that all our pupils are excited to be starting in their new classes.

It was lovely watching all our new Primary 1’s coming in to school on their first day yesterday. We look forward to getting to know them all over the coming weeks.

Everyone at Mount Carmel also wish our P7’s who left us in June the best of luck as they begin their new journey at secondary school.

Return to school

All of the staff at Mount Carmel and looking forward to seeing the children return on Monday. We have missed them over the holidays and cannot wait to see how much they have grown.

Children in Primary 2 should line up outside the open area, Primary 3 line up as the Primary 3’s did last year.  Primary 6 and 7 will line up at the middle playground and Primary 4 and 5 will line up at the front playground.

A reminder regarding snacks that we are a nut free school.  Children must not bring snacks or lunch items that contain nuts.

School Meal Crunch Deal

The Council is introducing a lunchtime School Meal Crunch Deal within our schools for just £1.08.

The deal will run from August 2023 to June 2024 and will be available to young people who pay for their school meals.

Our Primary Schools

Within our primary schools, the menu options remain unchanged but we have reduced the price of a school meal for P6’s and P7’s, who pay for their school meal, to £1.08.

Our school meals will still be nutritious, with locally sourced quality ingredients prepared daily.

Our Secondary Schools

Within our secondary schools, the Crunch Deal includes any main meal or any ‘grab and go’ option with water, a piece of fruit and the choice of a yogurt, homemade soup or a biscuit.

Young people can still purchase individual items from our menus at interval and lunchtime at full price.

Young people who receive a Free School Meal can continue to choose the same hot meal and ‘grab and go’ options for free using their full daily allowance.

You can view our menus and find out more about school meals online.

Fun Day

Well we definitely know how to have fun at MC. Here are a few pictures from our fantastic day on Wednesday (even if the good old Scottish weather meant we couldn’t go outside). We would like to give a great big shout out and thank you to our wonderful Friends of Mount Carmel who organised our fun day. We had a blast. We would also like to say a great big thank you to Deborah Boyd who has been an amazing friend of Mount Carmel for many years. She has been a parent at our school for the last 13 years and has helped organised many fun days! We will miss you and thank you Deborah  💙

Farewell Fr Martin

Today we celebrated our final Mass with Fr Martin. We raised the roof with some of our favourite hymns and of course a special rendition of Super Crab! We can’t thank Fr Martin enough for all of the love and support he has shown in developing the faith of our school community.  He will be greatly missed, however he will always hold a very special place in our Mount Carmel family.

We currently have a waiting list for spaces at breakfast club therefore if we don’t receive your letter by this date accepting the place allocated to your child we will assume that the place is no longer required and allocate the space to one of our waiting list children.

Thankyou

Good Luck !

Thanks and Good Luck!

Over the past few years the children have been supported by Jason; (you may have heard your children mention him.) Jason is part of a team that provide sports activities and games for our children. He has coordinated multi sports clubs and helped facilitate health inputs and transition games. The children are so fond of him and he has an excellent way of motivating and engaging them throughout! Jason is leaving us this year to pursue his dreams of becoming a teacher! We wish him luck and believe he will be outstanding in this role when the time comes!

Thank you from all your Mount Carmel Family.

God’s Loving Plan – Primary 6

Next week Primary 6 will embark on God’s Loving Plan.

God’s Loving Plan teaches children how to develop healthy and respectful attitudes to their bodies and all aspects of God’s gift of life. ‘God’s Loving Plan’ connects the Religious Education curriculum and the Health and wellbeing curriculum.

Any parents and carers who do not wish their child to be part of these lessons please contact the school by 3pm on Friday 23rd June.

Thank you,

Mrs. Terras

Teacher Gifts

We have been struck by the number of adverts, shop displays and social media posts about teacher/staff gifts at this time of year.
We want to let you know that none of this is necessary.  It is upsetting to see that there is so much out there putting pressure on families to believe that this is what school staff expect. We don’t!
We do our jobs because we love it! We love your children and the best gift for us is having the privilege to be alongside them as they grow and develop.
So, once again we remind our families that a simple ‘Thank You’ is more than enough.
From all of the staff at Mount Carmel

School Crossing

Unfortunately we will have no School Crossing Attendant available to help the kids cross the road  on either Wednesday 21st June am & pm and also on Friday 23rd June am & pm.

Please ensure that if your child is walking to school or being dropped off that they are accompanied by a responsible person who can ensure that they arrive at school safely.

Thankyou
