Good morning Primary 4,

I hope you have all had a lovely week! As it is May Day tomorrow, we are uploading your learning grids for next week today.  Again lots of fabulous learning taking place and i love receiving photos of you having fun outside – especially in the good weather!

Today is also the day that our fabulous janitor Mr. McMillan retires after working at Mount Carmel for 20 years! So  i would love if you could say a little prayer wishing him a happy and healthy retirement.

Another amazing response!

Well done to everyone that got in touch requesting a shout out for their family heroes!

As long as you keep sending I’ll keep posting!

Today our school community want to say a big, enormous, massive thank you to…

Lyn, who is Lauren in P2’s Aunt. She is working hard at a care home.

Amy, family friend of Aimee in P6. She is working for the NHS at Crosshouse!

Harry in P4 has asked for his Aunt Cliodhna, a nurse, looking after children at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow to get a big SHOUT OUT!

Erin in P5 has organised a shout out for her dad, a lorry driver; her Auntie Shelly, a hospital carer; her Auntie Marianne, a childminder and all the fabulous carers helping to take care of her gran!

Lucy in P5 and Luke in P2 have nominated their mum, she is working hard as a pharmacist!

Logan in P3 is clapping for his papa who works at Royal Mail and has been very busy recently and his Auntie Lisa, working at the bank.

Zak, P4 is clapping for his hero; his mum, she is an ICU nurse!

Ella, P2 would like a shout out for her dad, a fuel driver; her gran working for the NHS and her Uncle Scott, a firefighter!

Olivia P7 and Jessica P1, are sending massive thanks to their Nana who works at a care home looking after the residents.

And finally…Our very own Mr McMillan who retires this week, he has kept our school running over the last few weeks (not to mention years) making sure it will be ready when we all get to be together again! We have a sneaky suspicion people will clap for him!

We are so proud and grateful to all of you. We will clap for you all tonight. Together we are Team MC.

Weekly Challenge

Hello boys and girls,

It has been lovely to see all of your fabulous photos coming in. Marty has been so excited to see all of your drawings that he decided he would draw a picture of himself too!

Like all of you, Marty has been enjoying his time in the sun. He has his sunglasses and his sun hat but he has been getting awfully warm when he is outside playing with his ball. His lovely Mount Carmel jumper is perfect for school time but he would love a t-shirt for having fun in the sun!

Do you think you could help Marty stay cool by designing a t-shirt for him? What do you think he would like it to look like? Which colours do you think he would like? Would he like a picture or pattern on it?

We would love for you to use your imagination to create Marty a t-shirt and then send it to Mrs McGahon. We will let Marty pick which one he likes best and our very talented Mrs Taylor is going to make it for him to wear!! Marty will then be able to model it for you all to see!

We really hope you can help us and we can’t wait to see what fantastic t-shirt designs you come up with.

Have fun getting creative everyone!

Lots of love,

Mrs Duff and Mrs Dunsmore xxx

Clap for Carers!

Shout Out!!   claire.crawford@eastayrshire.org.uk

Final call! This will be the final week of Shout Outs!(But don’t worry I will have a new challenge to help you celebrate yourself and others this Thursday!)  Email me (Mrs Crawford see above) before 5pm on Wednesday if you have anyone you would like to nominate for ‘Clap for Carers’. Remember to tell me who you are clapping for and why. Shout outs will be on the Wellbeing blog on Thursday.

Stay Safe. Together we are Team MC.

Home Learning Assembly Friday 1st May

Hello boys and girls and welcome to our first Home Learning Assembly.

We hope that you are all doing well and we all miss you so much.
This is a bit of a different assembly, we are not all together in the hall but we thought it would be nice if we could still all come together in a special way each week.
Just the way that we would normally do, let’s start of with a prayer together, let’s take a moment to speak to God and to thank him for all that He is doing for us.
Please God continue to look after us all and keep us safe.
Lord in your mercy,
Hear our Prayer.
This week we would like to thank  you all for the great work that is being completed at home.  Mrs McGahon and Mrs Fergusson have been speaking to many parents at home to see how you are all doing.  They have been telling us great things about the work you have been completing.  Many of you have been sending in photographs of what you have been doing at home, you class teachers have really  enjoyed looking at all of these things.  Well done and keep up the hard work.
We have also had lots of great things sent for the lovely Mr McMillan.  As you were told last week Mr McMillan will soon be retiring, Mrs Templeton has been collecting all of  you poems, stories and pictures to make a lovely book for Mr McMillan to show how much we are going to miss him.  Thank you all so much for working on these things, don’t worry if you haven’t had time to send in something you can still make a picture.  Once we are all back together we will do something special for him and you can pass any of your lovely things to him then.

We have a new request for you for this week.  Bishop Nolan has asked for lovely pictures of our priests to be sent to him, these will be used to fill the seats of the Cathedral in Ayr during this time when we cannot fill them with people.  This can be sent by an adult through facebook or you can send to Mrs McGahon at Joanna.mcgahon@eastayrshire.org.uk We will then pass these pictures on for you.

As we always do during our assembly it is now time for our Star Pupils.  We are sending virtual certificates out this week to:

Primary 1 – Mrs Duff “I am going to nominate Jessica as she has tried so hard in all of her tasks and really used her imagination. She chose to make our class Olaf a sun house from her 3D junk modelling challenge !! So proud of her.”
Primary 2 – Mrs Dunsmore “My pupil of the week is Casper. He has worked extremely hard during  the home learning period. He has been completing all tasks that have been set to a very high standard. I am very proud of Casper.”
Primary 3 – Mrs McCreadie “My pupil of the week is Taylor.  He has been a superstar completing all his jobs and sending pictures of things he has been doing with Mum.  He also ran the 5K to raise money for NHS.
Primary 4 – Mrs Strachan ” My pupil is Harry, he has been amazing completing the Home Learning Tasks.  He also made a clips video too!”
Primary 5 – Mrs McIntyre “My star pupil is Tilly for completing all jobs and sending it everyday and including pictures of her creativity and dress design.”
Primary 6 – Mrs Mackinnon ” I would like to recognise Aimee from P6 for her consistent effort and fabulous research on Famous French People.”
Primary 7 – Miss Mudge “I nominate Olivia S. She’s been completing all the core tasks. She’s also been great at getting in contact with some of the other P7’snd she has helped others with some tasks. – Well done Olivia”
Let’s finish our assembly today by thanking God for all of our Key Workers who have been doing so much to keep us all safe.  If you have time take a look at our Wellbeing Blog which this week has so many of our amazing carers.

Continue to stay safe boys and girls. Show love to the people around you, we love and miss you all.
All the staff at Mount Carmel Primary School.
Together we are #TeamMC

Friday 1st May Home Learning Assembly

Please look out for our Home Learning Assembly Post!

Assembly was always the highlight of our week and so now we have a Home Learning Assembly post which will also be sent by email..

We may not be able to be together in school right now, but every Friday we can be there for each other, find out what has been going on and who are the Star Pupils!

Together we are  Team MC !

Hello!

Hello boys and girls,

Mrs Duff and Mrs Dunsmore are so excited to be able to keep in touch with you!!! We know Marty bear is missing seeing you all in our school so he will be delighted too!!!!

We hope you have all been having lots of fun at home with your families, especially during the lovely sunny weather.

We have been busy drawing pictures of ourselves so that you can see us on your screens anytime you like! We would also love to be able to see all of you………so do you think you could you do a very special job for us?

Could you draw a fantastic picture of yourself and ask a grown up to take a photograph of you holding it, just like we did? Then you could send it in to Mrs McGahon and we can put all the photographs of our new Primary 1 friends together.

We can’t wait to see all of your lovely faces again!

Love Mrs Duff and Mrs Dunsmore xxxx

Artwork Wanted!

Young People of  Galloway Diocese!

At Mass this morning Bishop Nolan set you all a challenge!:

To paint or draw a picture of your Priest and send them via Facebook Messenger to the RC Ayr page. We will use them to fill the Cathedral with artwork during this time when we cannot fill it with people!

If you are not on Facebook, you can email your artwork to Mrs MGahon on: Joanna.mcgahon@eastayrshire.org.uk

THANK YOU!

Wow!!

A huge thank you to everyone from Mount Carmel, past and present, who sent in messages, drawing , poems and lovely memories for Mr McMillan’s Memory Book.

We have been overwhelmed by the response and are truly grateful for you all taking the time to send them in, he will be absolutely delighted I’m sure!

Unfortunately, there has to be cut off point….so please do not send anymore as sadly we won’t be able to add them in now. However, you could still make something for him and keep it at home till our schools go back and bring it in then and we will pass them on to Mr McMillan.

Clap for our carers!
