Last Day of Term
A reminder that the last day before our Christmas holidays will be Friday 23rd December. The school closes at 2.30pm.
Christmas Parties
Our Christmas parties this year are as follows:
Primary 1-3 Tuesday 20th December
Primary 4 & 5 Wednesday 21st December
Primary 6 & 7 Thursday 22nd December
Evening Performance Pick up
A reminder that all children attending tomorrow evening’s performance must be collected at 6.30pm.
Calendar and Crafts Reminder
Reminder that today we will be selling some of our class Christmas crafts and we will also be taking orders for our festive calendars. Craft prices will range from between 30p and £2 and calendars will be £2 each.
We will be accepting cash only today for those items. There will also be donation boxes for FOMC.
P4-7 Christmas Show Information
Tomorrow pupils in P4-7 can bring a Christmas jumper / tinsel etc with them to wear along with the rest of their uniform for the show in the afternoon.
For Thursday night’s performance they can come wearing their Christmas jumper /accessories etc.
PJ & Movie Day
On Monday 19th December all children are invited to come to school wearing their pyjamas for a special pyjama and movie day! They can also bring with them a cuddly toy if they wish.
Additional Nativity Tickets
We have 15 extra tickets available for our Nativity performances. If you would like a maximum of 2 extra tickets, please complete this form.
Tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis.
This form will close at 10am tomorrow morning.
Class Christmas Crafts
Here is a little taster of some of the class Christmas craft items that will be for sale prior to our Nativity performances next week:
Christmas Jumpers
Tomorrow the children are welcome to wear a Christmas Jumper to school along with the rest of their school uniform.
If you have any spare Christmas jumpers that you no longer need, we would be grateful if you could drop them off at the school. Likewise, if your child wishes to borrow a Christmas jumper for the day, we do have a very small selection kept in school.
Reverse Advent Calendar 2022
We are delighted to be continuing with our annual Reverse Advent Calendar initiative this year. This is a wonderful project which helps local families who may be struggling this Christmas.
Pupils can begin bringing in to school any items similar to those listed below. We will collect items up until Wednesday 21st December when Father Martin will then uplift them and take them to the Food Bank.
Please do not hand in perishable food stuffs
Nativity Performances- Important Information
Doors will be open for access to our small hall half an hour before each performance, where parents/carers will be able to purchase items from our class Christmas crafts, order school class calendars and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee.
Doors open on Wednesday 14th at 1.30pm (performance at 2pm)
Doors open on Thursday 15th at 5pm (performance at 5.30pm)

A Big Thank You!
We would like to say a big thank you to Friends Of Mount Carmel for organising our school Christmas Fayre last Friday. It was a huge success! Also thank you to all the staff and pupils who helped out on the night and to Ms. Donnelly and the school choir who opened the Fayre.
Donations for Nativity Tickets
Our Nativity tickets are being given out daily to pupils, so please check schoolbags for them if you have already returned your order form.
We are not charging for the tickets this year, however, if you feel you would like to make a donation we would be extremely grateful. We are kindly asking for a donation of between £1 and £6.

Mount Carmel Primary School Antibullying Approach
As you are aware this is national antibullying week. At Mount Carmel Primary School we aim to be kind and caring friends. We know that bullying can happen at school and want to do our best to prevent these instances and provide the appropriate support for children and their adults if it was to occur. We are currently creating our statement to add to the East Ayrshire Antibullying Policy. Please take the time to complete this survey and share your views with us.
This survey will close on Sunday 20th November.
Parent/Carer Appointments
A reminder that tonight and tomorrow night are our parent/carer appointments in school. We are delighted that St. Joseph’s staff will be attending both nights. No appointments required, please just introduce yourself and ask any questions you may have no matter which primary your child is in.
There will also be the opportunity to look at pupil work and have a cup of tea/coffee. These will both be available in the small hall.
Book Fair
We are delighted to have our Book Fair back in school!
Every class will have the opportunity to visit the Book Fair today. Each child will be given a “Book Fair Wish List” slip which will be filled out in school and brought home with them with the title of one book they would really like from the Fair.
There is no obligation to purchase a book.
There is a portion at the bottom of the slip which parents/carers can complete in order to pay for the book if they wish.
The Book Fair will be available tonight and tomorrow night during our parents evening.
Please do not send cash into school.

Killie Kickers (age 3-5)
There will be a new weekly Killie Kickers (age 3-5) session for young people in Onthank launching on Thursday 17th November at 4pm. This will take place in the North West Area Centre, Western Road, Kilmarnock KA3 1NQ on Thursdays from 4pm-5pm. The cost is £4 per session with your 1st session free!

CHILDREN’S QUENTIN BLAKE ILLUSTRATION EXHIBITION

As part of East Ayrshire Leisure’s celebration of Quentin Blake’s 90th birthday this year, we are inviting children and young people age 7 – 16 years to submit their own Quentin Blake inspired illustration artworks for a special exhibition in the Young People’s Gallery at the Dick Institute from 26 November 2022 – 25 February 2023.

Children In Need
On Friday 18th November we will celebrate Children in Need. On this day children can come to school in their own clothes and can choose to wear something spotty if they wish.
We are asking for a £1 donation for this via ParentPay.
Children will also receive an additional entry for the November raffle for this £1 donation.
