The English department are in rooms 201; 202; 204; 208; 209; 210; 211.Our 7 staff consist of : PT Mrs D McCrone; PT Literacy Mr D Ball; Ms L J ohnston; Mrs A Wood; Mrs C Davidson; Mrs I Macdonald; Miss C Millar.

We run N5 English for S4 and S5; N4 English for S4; Higher English for S5/6; Advanced Higher for S6; N5 Media for S5 and Creative Industries/N5 Literacy for S5. S1-3 follow a common BGE course.

Pupils enter regular competitions such as The Young Writers’ Busta rhymes; The Young Writers’ Mini Saga Creative Worlds and The Christopher Tower Poetry competition. Pupils are regularly selected for publishing in various anthologies.

Supported study runs regularly for N5 and Higher to prepare pupils for prelim exams in January and the main exam diet in May.

The dept. employs resources and strategies in line with the school’s Dyslexia Friendly Schools initiative.
