Welcome to Session 2018 / 19

Dear pupils, parents/carers and school partners, it is a pleasure to welcome you back for the 2018-2019 academic term. I hope you all had an excellent summer break and are refreshed and ready for another great year.

There has been a lot of building works taking place during the summer; these are now all complete and trades are off site. We have had brickwork repairs, window flashing upgrades, new fire doors on the second floor as well as improvements to the car park and traffic management system.

We look forward to starting the new term with a variety of new staff to the school; John Fulton and Briony Masson in PE, Amy Thomson in Social Subjects, Louise Mitchell in Mathematics, Laurie Withers in Technical and Michelle Climo in Art & Design.

Our initial SQA statistics show another good performance, and we await the annual September INSIGHT analysis update to see how we compare against our local and national comparators.

We are in the process of rubber stamping our school improvement plan, and hope to share a condensed version of this with parents in due course.

At the start of the new terms we are focussing on a couple of matters which slipped prior to the summer break;

Uniform – it is fantastic to see the standard of uniform during the first week back, and we ask for pupils and parents to support us on trying to enforce 100% school uniform for all pupils. As well as the obvious academic benefits of wearing school uniform, the health and safety of our pupils is the number one priority, and school uniform significantly assists with this.

Attendance – our average attendance rate slipped below 90% for the first time in a number of years last session. This means, on average, pupils miss one morning or afternoon of school each week.  If we can maximise attendance, we maximise attainment.  Your support on this matter is very much appreciated.

As always, if you have any questions or queries, please contact the school office.

I am looking forward to working in partnership with all pupils, parents/carers and partners moving forward this academic session.

Welcome Back Team Loudoun !

Dear pupils, parents and wider school partners, it is a pleasure to welcome you back for school year 2017-18, following a simply amazing year for Loudoun Academy last year.  I hope that you have all had an excellent Summer break and return refreshed and ready for another great year.

It has been a very busy Summer in school due to a wide range of building works taking place.  A new vehicle entrance has been put in place, to serve both the school and leisure centre and we ask, as always, that drivers approach and use school roads with the greatest of care and caution.  Further works have taken place to our main roof and brickwork and these are scheduled to complete, as planned, in the next few weeks.  We will be meeting with pupils to advise of routes around the site until the completion of these works and the removal of our scaffold.  We have had new fire and security doors installed over the Summer and Hurlford primary have been successfully decanted from Loudoun, back to their much improved campus.  We once again, thank our pupils, staff and parents for their co-operation during such works to improve our school.

We look forward to opening our new inclusion hub, support for learning classroom and our new senior phase communication centre in the coming weeks and will share these, and other developments, in a newsletter with you in the very near future.

We are delighted with our SQA results and congratulate all of our learners on a job very well done, and wish our leavers all of the very best as they move into further study, training or employment.

As always, our school handbook is available on the EAC website and a copy will also be placed on this site for parental information.  We will also provide our parent calendar on this site in the coming days.

As always, please contact us at school if you have any queries or issues and I look forward to welcoming you all back formally tomorrow.

With all best wishes for another amazing Team Loudoun year

Publication of leaver data

We are delighted to announce that our leaver data has been published and data for all four national measures is available on the Parentzone site.  This data is categorised into 4 sections :-

  • Main dashboard
  • Literacy and Numeracy
  • Deprivation
  • SCQF

By clicking on the thumbnails in each section, our parents and partners can readily access data about our leavers from 2015/16.  Please note that this data is entirely different to our local measures data which relates to our performance in the Summer 2016 exam diet and has already been published.  The data can be found at :-

We are more than happy to respond to any individual queries regards the data, please contact the school if you wish to do so.
