We had fun playing  ‘Four in a Row’ Games while practising what we learned about Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers.

World War 2 – Rations

We have been learning about Rationing during World War 2. We used a person’s weekly rations to make an Eggless Cake and taste it.

Numeracy

We learned how to convert improper fractions to mixed numbers using Numicon and Counters. We had too much fun playing with the Numicon!

  

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

We had a great trip to the Kings Theatre to see ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.

Scottish Parliament Visit

Primary 7 were visited by Anne from the Scottish Parliament today to build on we already learned from our mini-topic.

We learned about Devolved and Reserved powers, about the Debating Chamber and the how laws are made. We sorted issues into which we felt were the most important and had a mini-election.

 

 

    

Christmas Lego Challenge

The STEM Committee set a Christmas Lego Challenge. We split into House Groups and created a Christmas scene. These were then judged anonymously by members of the STEM Committee from another class. Which do you like best?

Christmas Activities

Primary 7 had fun taking part in a Snowman Drive. We also had a great time celebrating at our Christmas party!

Scottish Reading Challenge

Primary 7 took part in a Scottish Reading challenge. We had to  read a book written by a Scottish author. We read two traditional Scottish folk tales “The Kelpies” and “The Wee Bannoch”.

Deaf Awareness Session

Logan and Mrs Douglas, an HI teacher, prepared a fantastic morning of activities helping P7 to understand more about what it is like to have a hearing impairment and how we can be more deaf aware.

Sea Turtles

As part of our Endangered Animals topic, Primary 7 wanted to learn more about Sea Turtles and why they are endangered. We made this beautiful display, of  wax-resist paintings of turtles and have been exploring the effects of plastic pollution in our oceans and seas.

Numeracy

We have been learning how to order numbers using the more and less than symbols. We played a game where we made up numbers on our whiteboards which we then ordered using the symbols.

Coins

After Aiden brought in a new King Charles III 50p coin to show us, Mr Hamilton was telling us about his coin collection. Today he brought in some unusual coins from countries round the world to show us.

Endangered Animals – Personal Research Task

Primary 7 chose an endangered animal each to carry out some personal research and create a factfile.

Primary 7 worked in groups to research endangered animals in the different continents of the world.

Autumn Fun Day

Well done to P7 for a successful Autumn Fun Day today! We raised an amazing total of £707!

Class Charter

Our theme for our class charter is us – leaving Hillhead at the bottom, floating on hot air balloons up to our respective secondary schools at the top.

We discussed and selected the articles which are most relevant to us in our class.

We finished off by adding some twinkle lights!

Literacy – Novel Study

This term, Primary 7 will be reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J. Palacio.
