SCHOOL LUNCH MENUS

Our school meals menus are changing from 19 April 2021 and will run on a three weekly cycle (see attached menus below). Please note that we will be on Week 2 from Monday 26th April.
The price of a standard two course meal in all schools is £2.15. Please remember that all children in P1-3 are entitled to a free school meal.
At the moment we have reduced our menus slightly, but where available we will continue to use organic, local and seasonal produce and have designated meat-free days.
  • All our main meals/snacks are served with two fresh seasonal vegetables/fresh salad and a piece of fruit
  • Every day we offer a pick and mix sandwich option, salad dishes, yoghurt, fresh fruit and free bread
  • All meat on offer is sourced from local butchers with our chicken Red Tractor assured halal meat

Red Nose Day

Tomorrow (19th March) we will be taking part in Red Nose Day activities to support Comic Relief. All of our children will get the chance to take part in different activities in school, which will raise awareness of the work the charity does to support people in need.

Children are encouraged to take part in a Dress Down Day, where they can:

  • celebrate being a hero (dress up as their favourite character who is a hero to them)
  • dress up a bit silly (think odd socks & shoes, different coloured clothes or a funny hairstyle), or
  • just come to school in casual clothes

We are asking for a donation to be made (suggested £1), which will be given to Comic Relief. This can either be made through Parent Pay or paid in cash on Friday.

“Funny is Power. Funny can change things. It can connect us. It can be the difference.”

As it is Comic Relief, we would love it if the children prepared a joke that they could share with their class and teachers. We will be sharing pictures from the day on twitter.

Thank you in advance for your support.

What is autism?

Autism Awareness Day – Friday 12th March 2021

On Friday of this week we are having an awareness day for Autism, which is being led by the DFS Inclusion Committee. We have prepared a daily plan for P1-3 and P4-7, full of activities and resources to explore that should help you and your child to gain a better understanding of Autism.

Primary 1-3 will be completing activities in school and P4-7 will complete them remotely. These resources can be found in the news section of the app or by following the link below to our blog where you will find the Sway presentation.

Please follow the link to the Blog for access to all the resources to support Autism Awareness Day.

We will be learning all about Autism and taking part in a range of activities. We have asked that you wear something to express yourself and do your hair in a crazy style. We want to celebrate the fact that we are all different so be as out there as you want! At the end of the day, please take some time to complete the questionnaires on the blog all about the activities today. Please also email photos of yourself taking part in any of today’s activities to Miss Smith.

Thank you,

The DFS Inclusion Committee

DFS Inclusive Practice Logo Competition

“East Ayrshire’s Dyslexia Friendly School Accreditation Pathway has been rebranded as “East Ayrshire’s Inclusive Practice (DFS) Accreditation Pathway”. To support this rebranding we are looking to schools to help us create a brand new logo to reflect the new name and the broader theme of inclusion met through dyslexia friendly and inclusive practices.”

Drongan PS are encouraging our children to submit a new design for this Logo competition using the sheet attached. We will choose 3 entries from this competition to represent the school, but will also choose our own winner to become our new DFS Inclusive Practice logo for our gold accreditation journey and beyond. East Ayrshire’s old logo can be seen above. Entries MUST be submitted by Thursday 10th December at the latest. Thank you. The DFS Inclusion Committee.

Be Safe Be Seen

Tomorrow the JRSO Committee will be having a ‘Be Safe Be Seen’ day. We are encouraging children to come to school wearing bright clothing or accessories, helping East Ayrshire to raise awareness of Road Safety. The JRSO Committee have provided classes with resources to support ‘Be Safe Be Seen’ day.

Please note this is an optional activity and if pupils are not able to wear bright clothing or accessories, they can come to school in their uniform as normal. We are not collecting any donations tomorrow, as the purpose of the day is to raise awareness of road safety and support our JRSO Committee with their work.

Thank you.
