Den building challenge

Good morning everyone,

No homework this week to come back in. I have set the class a task of creating a den at home. During Maths Week last week a number of pupils were interested in building and making things that animals could hide/stay in so I thought I would continue this week’s homework task with something a wee bit different.

Homework Task: Make a den at home using things about the house. Your den should have a roof, some walls/partitions and somewhere comfortable for you to sit. Choose something to do in your den and enjoy the space you have made.

Just a reminder that Friday is our Go Purple Day and all pupils/children are being asked to wear something purple – purple hat, scarf, socks, t-shirt, badge, hair bobble and it’s a Dress Down Day for the PS pupils too. PS parents can donate via Parentpay.

Enjoy the rest of the week!

FriYAY round up!

Hello Everyone,

One week left until the October holidays! Time flies when you are having fun!

P3 have worked really hard this week on a variety of subjects. Numeracy was a big part of this week to give recognition to Maths Week Scotland.

This afternoon pupils wanted to learn about how rockets worked. The children will have brought home their rocket which we used in class today in numeracy. They lined up, launched their rockets and we measured the distance it travelled – great fun!

Here are some photos from this week – experiments, maths challenges in place value and some meditation.

For part of our week I like to focus on mindfulness in the classroom – a skill that teaches children to understand their own body and emotions. Part of this lesson is meditation – Cosmic Yoga Kids Zen Den if anyone wants to give it a go at home!

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Maths week with Miss Murdoch

To celebrate Maths Week, P3 have been exploring 3D objects with Miss Murdoch. Today pupils have been naming 3D objects and identifying where they can find them in our classroom.

They have also been exploring the properties of 3D shapes and were able to create models to show the faces, edges and vertices of 3D objects such as cubes, square based pyramids, cuboids and triangular prisms.

Sumdog

Hi Everyone

Pupils in P3 have been given their Sumdog Username and Password home today. Pupils can access a range of games and great resources.

As a class we have been entered into a competition to show off what we can do and a chance for our class to be crowned Sumdog champion of 2021. We are encouraging children to use Sumdog as much as they can – not just this week but throughout the year at home and in school 🙂

Thanks, Miss Edmund

Maths Week 2021

Good Afternoon everyone!

This week is Maths Week. It’s about celebrating all the
amazing things in our world which use Maths and
encouraging children to take Maths beyond school!

P3 have been given their homework for this week – three tasks that have been spoken about in class today.

Task 1

Worksheet – pupils have to find the number before and after the number in the sweet wrapper. Feel free to colour those jars in once you have finished.

Task 2 (In green jotter)

Measure the length of five items. Use paper clips, coins, pens or something similar to measure the items. Line up the paper clips along the length of the item, then count the number of paper clips to see how long it is. Tell an adult what the longest item was and the shortest item was. Feel free to write what you discover in your jotter!

Task 3

Using items that you can find outside, create a pattern. Try leaf, stones, leaf, stone etc or stick, stone, grass, stick,  stone, grass.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to message me. Can I ask that all homework is returned by Friday please?

Have a great week!

Miss Edmund

Homework 21.09.21

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope you all have had a lovely long weekend. P3 have been telling me all about them!

Homework this week is LITERACY only.

P3 have been given their words for spelling this week, they have a copy home in their jotters.

Task: Look, cover, write and check each word 2 times.

With whoever is at home have them test you on your spelling and test them back. A great way to help the spelling words stick.

Any questions just send me a message! Have a lovely week 🙂
