Our topic for Health and Wellbeing is Substance Misuse: alcohol and smoking.
The children have been identifying the percentages of different alcoholic drinks, and learning about the long and short-term effects alcohol can have on the human body. The focus of this topic is to educate children on the potential dangers alcohol may have. The children discussed the importance of only drinking alcohol when a person is over 18 years old and never to drink and drive.
Carrying on our Health and Wellbeing topic, focusing on alcohol,Β the children discussed what they thought the effects of 1, 3, 5, and 7 alcoholic drinks could be on the human body. The children then wore beer goggles, donated by the NHS, and had the challenge of collecting the key from their partner to place it in the lock.
Although this was some light-hearted fun for the children, there was a clear message highlighting the dangers alcohol could have on the human body.
