π Eco Committee β Meet Our New Eco Mascot!
This term, our Eco Committee launched an exciting competition to design a brand-new Eco Mascot for 2025β2026. We asked Father Ben to help us judge all the brilliant entries, and after much discussion he chose a fantastic top four designs by:
- Aria-Lydia Watson
- Ross Rennie
- Ava Glass
- Ava Westbrook
Every entry showed amazing creativity, care for the environment, and big ideas for how our school can keep being eco-friendly. To make the final mascot even more special, we combined the best features from all four designs to create our official Eco Mascot for 2025β2026!
- This project links directly to our meta-skills: pupils showed creativity by designing unique and imaginative mascots that captured different eco messages, and they demonstrated initiative by taking part in the competition and coming up with their own solutions to represent how we can care for the planet.
- It also connects to the UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) β in particular Article 12, the right for children to share their views and be listened to, and Article 29, the right to learn how to care for the environment.
- From a SHANARRI wellbeing perspective, this project supported pupils to feel included, as everyone had the chance to take part, and respected, as their ideas were celebrated and valued in the final design.
We are so proud of the effort and imagination shown by everyone who entered. Our Eco Mascot will now become a symbol for the schoolβs eco work over the next year, helping us remember that even small changes can make a big difference to our planet! ππ
