New Eco Mascots & Eco Code

We are proud to introduce our new Eco Code and Eco Mascots for St. Joseph’s, as designed by our pupils. The Keep Scotland Beautiful Eco Schools Award requires each school to create their own unique mascot and codes to represent our action plan for the award. Football Practice in the Sunshine

Sphero Club – Draw

P5-7 got stuck in to our second session of our Spero robotics club today. This time the challenge was to design a route for the Sphero that the device would follow. We learned that we had to make sure each line in our 2D shapes joined otherwise the Sphero had a ‘dead zone’ instruction gap. Well done to our great wee team of football players for playing their first matches at the inter-school 7-a-side matches on Friday. Sphero Robotics

We’ve kick-started off our Sphero robotic and coding activities for Primary 5 – 7 pupils. We borrowed IPads and Sphero Block devices from Portpatrick Primary. What is a Sphero, you ask? Well, Sphero robots have many different internal parts that make them work such as motors, LEDs, encoders, processors, a CPU and Bluetooth communication module for connecting to phones, and a gyroscope that keeps it oriented. Beach Clean for World Water Day

Our enviromentally conscious pupils rolled up their sleeves to look after our coastal habitats today. We were marking the occassion of World Water Day and we were participating in The Litter League Spring Clean 2024 – Keep Scotland Beautiful campaign too.
