As part of our ‘The Body’ learning, we have been building skeletons in teams. We worked collaboratively and talked about where each bone should be placed.

P4 Stars – First few weeks
During our first few weeks of Primary 4 we have been getting to know our new teachers and new classmates. We have been getting used to our new classroom and have been practising our new routines.
We focussed on learning about emotions and empathy and recognising and celebrating our differences and that people can feel different emotions at different times.
Meta-skills have been discussed and we have learned and practised lots of the meta-skills through STEM challenges. Meta-skills are integrity, initiative, focusing, adapting, sense-making, critical thinking, curiosity, creativity, feeling, collaborating, communicating and leading.
We have a new class charter and voted on a gaming theme and this has helped us have a clear understanding of our rights and responsibilities to make sure we have a successful year.

Primary 7 – Welcome
We have been settling into life in our new class, P7B. During this time we have been getting to know each other and developing new routines.
We have been learning about META skills. META skills are divided into 3 categories, Self-management, innovation and social intelligence. We learned about the different META skills which come under these headings. We worked in groups to create a poster explaining the different META skills. We completed activities in small groups where we had to use different skills to complete challenges such as counting to 21, building a shoe tower and making paper aeroplanes. These activities used lots of different META skills such as communication, creativity, adapting, collaborating, focussing, sense making, critical thinking, leading and initiative.

We created rainbow clouds to share positive qualities about each other.

We developed our maths skills when creating a ‘Figure Me Out’ challenge relating to information about ourselves. This developed our critical thinking and focus skills.

We also worked on creating our class charter. This developed our creativity, adapting, collaborating and communication skills.

We learnt about online safety and cyber resilience and created ‘Be SMART’ posters. This used our creativity, integrity and sense making skills.

We created recipes relating to our summer holidays where we shared our favourite activities. This developed our focussing, critical thinking and creativity skills.

We were inspired by a clip from the musical Matilda and wrote about our own ambitions ‘When we grow up…’
We went outside to create stone family portraits to share with the school.

P5 – First 2 Weeks
During the first few days of P5 we have been busy setting up and exploring our learning environment. We have enjoyed the different activity baskets and resources on offer for some free play, and we’ve enjoyed getting to know the new pupils who have joined us in P5.
Whilst enjoying the baskets, we have been using lots of our META skills; especially creativity, curiosity, leading, collaborating and communicating.
Have a look at some of the activities we’ve enjoyed.
