Today in primary 6/7 we had a special visit,  from Kieran from the HALO trust.  HALO trust is a worldwide organisation which specialise in landmines.  Kieran came in to inform the class more on what the organisation does worldwide and brought in equipment to show the class.  As a class we really enjoyed this and it was great to have someone who is an expert teaching us about this topic.

P6.7 Newsletter Term 4

In primary 6/7 we were lucky enough to have Morna from my world of work come in to deliver a workshop on driverless cars.  We were able to use Lego education to code our cars to follow journeys.

In Primary 6/7 we have been learning all about the Scottish Wars of Independence and Robert the Bruce.

To help us better understand what happened during the Battle of Bannockburn we created our own swords and shields and recreated the battle in the playground.

As part of British science week in Primary 6/7 we created water clocks.  We developed many skills including being patient and observant. 

P6.7 Newsletter Term 2

Today in primary 6/7 we looked at Remembrance Day and in particular the story of the poppy.  We then created our own poppy by using a range of different art materials.

As part of our IDL this term of global citizenship.  We were tasked with creating a den using materials we could find in the playground. We done this because October 10th was world homeless day.

As part of our skills academy block this term where we looked at the solar system.  We created paper rockets in class and had a competition to see which rocket could fly the furthest distance.

As part of skills academy for term 1 our topic in primary 6/7 was the solar system.  The class were set a challenge in groups to create a real life model of the solar system using items which were found in the classroom.  The groups were challenged to think about the size of planet, the colour of planet and the order in which they appear in the solar system.
