P5-7 have started some work on investigating polygons and headed outside to work this morning in the Winter sunshine. Working in teams, using sticks and following task cards; the pupils explored different 2D shapes together and put their knowledge of angles to good use too. We will use this information to find out more in class and will hopefully get back outside again soon to do some more fun maths
Thank you very much to family and friends for coming along to our Scots Showcase Assembly on Friday 27th January. This was a chance for the winners of our recent Scots competition to perform their poems and show-off their winning artwork and handwriting. Yesterday, 25th January, Leswalt Primary held their Annual Burns Lunch and what a great time we all had! Yummy food, good company and great entertainment made for the perfect celebration of Rabbie Burns! Our four P7 pupils chaired, organised and led the afternoon’s events. On Tuesday the 17th of January we enjoyed playing some rugby. Our coaches were Campbell McGregor (Malcolm’s dad) and Gregor Henry. They taught us about passing, cooperation, focus and tackling. The tackling was really fun and we TRIED not to make the other person go down with a thump! Passing is about good communication and focusing mostly – it is very important for team games. On Monday 16th January, Mrs Ferguson took Jack Rickard and Jamie Drennan to the annual Rotary Club Young Person’s Lunch. This was held at the North West Castle Hotel. We were made to feel most welcome and enjoyed a delicious three course meal while enjoying the chat of Rotary Club members and pupils from other schools. The speaker after the lunch was Kate Thomson. Wow what a show! On the 19th of December Leswalt Primary P7s went out to the Craignelder for their dinner, accompanied by Mrs B, Mrs Ferguson and Mrs Baillie. The girls looked very pretty in their finery, and the boys were very dashing. The food was fantastic – a feast fit for a king! On Wednesday, the whole school came together with all staff to enjoy a tasty Christmas lunch of turkey and all the trimmings. A great time was had by all and there were many clean plates… especially with regard to the pudding bowl! 🙂 Staff also really enjoyed sitting with the children and having a Christmas blether.
