Email to POTUS

Just a reminder to the children accessing Second Level work – if you would like to write an email for President Biden have a look in the IDL activities for details. I will be sending the emails off this evening. Thanks!

Creative Earth Competition

Creative Earth Competition – Together For Our Planet (ukcop26.org)

Hi Everyone,

A parent kindly sent this into the school office (thank you!) in case anyone is interested. I think some of you will be interested because it is a competition which involves thinking about the Earth and I know that a lot of you care about the Earth and what lives here, and because you all have fantastic creative ideas.  We thought we would share it in case you would like to do it as an activity over the holidays.

National Inventors’ Day

Hi Everyone, I completely forgot to say that I planned for today’s Big Thursday STEM activity of “almost-inventions” because today is National Inventors’ Day in America.  The reason 11th February was chosen to be National Inventors Day is because it is the birthday of the inventor Thomas Edison. He patented over 1000 inventions. Feel free to investigate what his inventions were and post a reply on the blog!

Busy Day in the Hub

In the hub today we did  a scavenger hunt. The children had to find something soft, smooth, man-made and something interesting.

Mrs Madden did some origami with the children.

There was lots of Arctic art. Can you guess who was inspired by which of the artists we have been looking at?

After learning about ice cores, some children investigated ice that we found in the school grounds.

In the bottle you can see some children added a layer to our hub ice core.   If you are in school tomorrow, check it out!

100% !

The ice block!

More Arctic dioramas were made.

Careful observations of the artist’s original work being transferred onto own designs.

We enjoyed the P4/5 Teams catch up!

British Museum Update

Hi Everyone,

Well, your questions about the Arctic were all sent to the British Museum last Friday. I thought you might be interested to see the reply.   I’m very excited that some of the Inuit peoples will be given chance to answer your questions…. we will have to wait patiently for the answers!

Hi Mrs Armstrong,

Many thanks for sending these questions through – I’ve sent these over to our Arctic Exhibition curators : Amber Lincoln, Peter Loovers and Jago Cooper. Amber is going to answer some but has also said she will speak directly with the Inuit peoples and ask them to provide some answers.
I’ll be in touch again as soon as I have an update for you.

Very best wishes,

Martin Payne

Email to President Biden

Good Morning Everyone,

I was so impressed with Joe’s email to President Biden, that I decided we should actually send it to him (if that’s ok with Joe!).  If anyone else would like to do that task by Friday I would be happy to send them all together.
