Making a butterfly

To make this butterfly, you will need some thin card, a craft knife a pencil, a cutting mat and a picture of a butterfly to copy.

Fold the card in half and draw half the butterfly and some shapes to make the pattern on the butterfly’s wings.

Cut out the shapes using the craft knife – cut through both layers of card.

Cut around the outside of your butterfly.

Open out your butterfly.

If you don’t have a craft knife you can use a small pair of scissors and make your design a bit simpler.

Here are some other insects I have made.  Mrs. Madden

Our second week

Hello everyone it’s our second week. This morning my dad woke me it felt like 5am. I was so tired. I had bagels for breakfast and a glass of milk. When I drank my milk I spilt it everywhere so I had to change. Then I went to my mums and I did the Joe Wicks workout at 9 o’clock. Me and my mum sat on the sofa for a while. I was planing my day while on the sofa. I will be doing other things like English and Maths. I really want to play sumdog but my sister probably won’t let me.

Extraordinary Insects

I have been reading this book  about extraordinary insects and I have found out that there is a midge that lives in Africa and its larva (young) spends its life in small puddles of water that are constantly drying out.  This creature can cope with a loss of up to 97 per cent of the water in its body whereas, we humans can only cope with losing 14 per cent!  When the larva are in a dried up state, they can cope with pretty much anything:  you can boil them, dip them in liquid nitrogen, soak them in spirit, expose them to cosmic radiation for years, or simply leave them alone and they can survive for up to 17 years!  To wake them up again, simply add water.  That’s amazing.  I decided to do some insect art – these are some place mats I have painted – I still have two more to do.  Mrs. Madden.

Today

Today I wasn’t to busy. First I woke up late because I had to to my dad. For breakfast I had a pancake with Nutella it was so yummy. Then when I got to my dads my mum and dad spoke for a wee while. My feet were getting so cold that I had to run up and get some. For lunch I had savoury eggs. After that I went on a walk a while later we were out for about 1 hour. We watched a movie after tea it was called sunshine on leith it was so good. I had watched that movie 2 more times in less of 2 weeks. I brought it over because my dad has not watched before. For tea we had chicken topped haggis. We also had mashed potato also carrots.

That raps up today’s blog see you tomorrow. By Orla

Fishy Friday Recipe

Buenas tardes a todos!

So last night I attempted to post a recipe for a mouth watering fish curry recipe that could have come straight out of the Jewel In The Crown; halfway through it, my eyes refused to remain open…so sleepy!

Thought I would finish it off today but have had such a run-around on the computer that three hours later, I’ve lost my mojo!  In the meantime, thought I’d share the pictures that tell the story of my culinary mis-adventures.

Will get back to it…eventually. In the meantime, here’s a challenge:

Who can create a recipe based on the images; any takers?

  •  Identify the ingredients
  • Preparation
  • Method

Hasta luego a todos!
