Lowry Art

Towards the end of term we were learning a little about the artist, L. S. Lowry. We compared the scenes in his paintings to Annan and talked about his life. Charcoal and chalk were used to produce our own art work in the style of Lowry and we have put some on display in the school corridor. Can anyone spot their picture here?

Autumn Artists

As part of our learning about Autumn, the children developed a good awareness of the changing colours of the leaves at this time of year. This learning developed further in the art area as some experimented to mix different shades of paint which were then used for vegetable printing. The children produced some lovely work which is now displayed in Nursery and the school corridor. We hope that you enjoy our little taster here of some of the artists at work. Sunflower Art

Having been inspired by our recent discussions about Vincent Van Gogh, the children have had the opportunity to create their own sunflower artwork which has formed beautiful, bright displays in both rooms. We would like to share a selection of some of their work – please take the time to have a look at the displays in Nursery too as we think that the children have produced some great art.

Arcimboldo

As part of our learning about Autumn at the end of term, we looked at some of the work of the artist Arcimboldo. We looked closely at his “Autumn” portrait on the Promethean board to see how he used food to depict the seasons as faces then we used food to make our own portraits. As you can see, some of the children have been inspired by learning about this artist and have produced some super work.

Kandinsky Gallery

We have been learning about the work of the artist Kandinsky in Nursery and have compared his work to that of Arcimboldo which was so enjoyed by the children last term. A range of media has been used to create artwork in the style of Kandinsky and the children have been amazed and delighted to be able to produce a piece of art that looks similar to that of a famous artist. As you can see, some of their super work has been done outdoors as well as indoors for display. We hope that enjoy our little Kandinsky gallery. I wonder if the children can find their own work?

Arcimboldo Art

Emma’s family has been looking at our Arcimboldo work where the children used foods to make portraits:

“Looks like Emma’s having fun!! Wonder how much food went missing during this activity hee hee.”

As you can imagine, we needed close supervision in the art area but the children did really respond well to this activity.
