Weekly Parental Email 8th September 2023

Unfortunately there will be no class updates via ClassDojo today since we received instructions from Dumfries and Galloway Council that Dojo no longer meets data regulations. We have asked for clarity as Mr McIlorum and myself completed the Data Impact assessment required by law, and therefore we are unsure as to why this has occurred. The staff and pupils find Dojo as useful as you do as parents/carers, so we will be working to try and find a suitable replacement. We will advise as soon as we can.
P1-P4 look forward to welcoming you to “Come and Join Us” on Tuesday 12th September in the afternoon. This is a chance for you to see what life is like in class, meet the teachers and see what the children are learning. Come for the whole session from 1.30 p.m. or just drop in when you can before the end of school.
Fingers crossed that good weather holds for the Parent Council BBQ on Saturday 16th September 3-6 p.m. The Parent Council raise valuable funds for the school so the children can enjoy activities such as Christmas parties and Easter Fun, as well as supporting with resources in class and also with school trips to reduce the costs for all. If you can help for a few hours, or if you can send donations for the raffle and tombola, it is much appreciated. P7 are also looking for donations for the Cake and Candy stall: the funds they raise go towards their P7 trip at the end of the year.
Closing date for buying tickets has been extended to Monday 11th Sept. Everyone who wishes a Kilnford buger should purchase a ticket as there are unlikely to be any available to purchase on the day.
Enjoy your weekend.

Class Charters

Class Charters

Already this term, all the classes have been creating their own Class Charters. By creating a Class Charter, this helps the children understand and apply the UN Rights of the Child. This will help create a positive learning environment for the children both within the class and across the whole school.

The children will explore and understand their own responsibility for their rights and also the rights of others throughout the year. The younger classes have chosen specific school values to look at in class this term, and their charters will develop through the year as they learn about all the school values.

You can see the Class Charter for your child/ren on the ClassDojo. If you have any queries, please discuss with the class teachers who will be only too happy to help.

Honours 2023

I have great pleasure in publishing this year’s Honours: 2023 Honours. This is also on Dojo. A huge well done to all our pupils for their achievements this year, but particularly to those who receive awards today.
Congratulations also to MacAdam who win the House trophy at the end of a well-fought competition.
We say farewell to our P7 pupils and wish them all the best as they move to high school. We also say goodbye and thank you to Mrs Henderson, Miss Kempsell, Miss McCormick and Mr Palmer as they move onto pastures new. We wish Mrs McIlorum all the best as she starts her maternity leave.
Wishing you a happy and safe summer.
Mrs Gamble.

We have now moved the majority of our posts to ClassDojo as there are so many! There are weekly updates of what we have been up to in class, as well as school posts for all our main events.

All parents/carers should have access to ClassDojo. If you need help with the access, please let us know and we will assist.

Standards and Quality Audit March 2023

We are in the process of completing the Standards and Quality Audit 2023. The audit is developed with the children and the staff, and allows us to reflect on the progress we have made towards the School Improvement Plan over the last year, and start to plan our steps for the coming year.
A summary of the audit can be found here: Parental SQA update March 2023  The full audit can be found here, should you wish to read it: Calside Standards and Quality Report 2023
These have been emailed to parents, together with a link to the parental electronic survey. The parental survey
should only take a few minutes to complete. We will then take the responses into consideration, as we develop our improvement plans for the coming year. The audit, summary and electronic survey link can also be found on ClassDojo for ease. Thank you in advance for your continuing support.
