Goodbye from Miss McGurty ❤️

Good morning Primary 2/3 😁

I can’t actually believe this is the last day of term 4 and the end of the academic year.

When we came off in March I thought I would be seeing all of your lovely faces again before the summer holidays. Although that hasn’t happened I have enjoyed communicating with you through Teams; reading your messages, looking at all your fantastic work and seeing your wonderful photographs 😍

I am sad we did not get to do all the things I had planned for Term 4 but I am also glad you are all safe and well.

Have a great summer my lovely little p2/3 🤩☀️
If you would like to post pictures and keep in touch I am happy for you to do so and I will check this page frequently 👌
I can’t wait to see all of you when we return to school in August. Even if I do not have the pleasure of teaching you again, I will see you around the school and you can come see me any time. For those of you who are in my class next year – let’s make it the best year ever!
I have set Summer competitions on Sumdog for you all and I will reveal the winner when we return to school in August. They run from today until Friday 7th August so practise your numeracy, spelling and grammar skills as much as you can over the holidays 👍😁

Thank you for all of your hard work at school and at home during lockdown.
Be safe, be kind and remember to always do what you can to be your best self.

I miss you all lots and lots,

Miss McGurty

Tuesday 23.6.20

Hello everyone!

I hope you had a lovely Monday.

Below are some end of year activities for you to do.

The first is your favourite memories from school this year. I know it may seem a long time ago now, but have a think about the year; the friends you made, the things you learned, and fill it in with words and drawings. I can’t wait to see what you all put as everyone will have different things they remember.

The second is your favourite memories at home. This can be activities you have completed on Teams, phone calls with family, walks, days you have had in the house with your family – anything you think of!

Good morning everyone!

I hope you enjoyed learning about Benjamin Franklin yesterday.

Today’s Virtual Classroom is full of links to sites with different maths and numeracy materials.

Numeracy Classroom

Have a play around with them and tell me what your favourite one is and why.

Maybe you can make up some calculations for someone at home to solve or for you to work out yourself.

Week beginning 15.6.20

Hello everyone,

I am in the hub today so I will post more tomorrow.

Today is National Fly A Kite Day  to observe  the day in 1856 when Benjamin Franklin conducted an experiment with lightning and a kite.

Here is a video with information about the experiment.

This one tells you all about the life of Benjamin Franklin.

Below is a link with a passage for you to read. There are 3 sets of questions. You can choose which set of questions you would like to answer.

Have fun learning about Benjamin Franklin. He is fascinating!

Happy Friday

Good morning everyone!

Mrs Bradley posted a wonderful book written during these changed times we are all travelling through.

Click below to access the full book.

What-Happened-When-We-All-Stopped

The book contains beautiful illustrations and a lovely poem reminding us how brilliant our world really is and how we should take care of it for ourselves and for the future.

Today is National Red Rose Day. The Rose is a gift of nature to our world 🌎

If you are out and about today, getting some fresh air and exercise, see if you can spot any beautiful roses. They may not be red as roses come in many varieties. Remember not to pick them as this will stop them growing.

Above is a picture to help you learn to draw a rose in the style of a famous Scottish architect and artist named Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Have a go at drawing your own. It’s tricky so remember things always get better with practise.

Here is a poem our famous Scottish poet Robert Burns wrote comparing his love to a rose:

Have a lovely weekend ❤️
I am in the Hub Monday but as always I’ll be checking in on Teams and on here when I can. Keep working hard and sending me your photos and files.

Thursday 11.6.20 – RE

Hello everyone!
I was having a clear out in my house yesterday and found a lovely book with prayers and verses from the bible.
I would like you to read these and choose your favourite. You can rewrite it and draw a picture to go along with it.
I am looking forward to seeing all of your creations.
have a great day. Miss McGurty.

Numeracy WB 8.6.20

Good morning!

Below are some multiplication grids and drills to work through.

I do not expect you to finish these in 5 minutes. I would like you to answer the questions you know. For all other questions you can use the Multiplication Facts Table.

Below are some addition word problems. Circles do the 1-digit problems, triangles and squares do the 2-digit problems.
Then try making up your own.

Let me know how you get on. As always, I would love to see and hear about all of your wonderful work. Also, please try out our virtual classroom and virtual reading room. I posted these yesterday.
