Just a reminder note to say that PE continues to be on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

We’ve all settled back into school this week! We’ve been super busy:

– recapping previous learning in Numeracy

– learning lots of new and interesting facts about our topic (Minibeasts).

– exploring the different features of a book (front cover, illustrator, blurb, main character and setting).

– using our sound knowledge to spell.

– making New Year resolutions.

Miss Mackay was so proud of all her amazing dancing stars today/tonight. Every one did a fantastic job at learning their dance and following the instructions/routines.

Thursday 21st November 2019

We got to try out different instruments at Big Noise! There are no words to explain how excited we all were!! Everyone got to try out every instrument and then choose which one they liked best 1-4 ( Violin, Viola, Cello and Double base). Before we learn to play our instruments we make a 3D real life model of it first. How exciting! 😀

Monday 4th November

This morning Mrs Gallacher came to visit us. She was so impressed with our amazing Numeracy work. We were doing our Number Talk on the number 8, showing it’s value using different resources and strategies.

Monday 28th October
We used our weighing skills to weigh out different pumpkins. We spoke about kilograms and tried to estimate how much we thought a little pumpkin would weigh compared to a big pumpkin. They were surprisingly heavy!!

Another activity was to find and pinch letters out of the sand to make cvc words.

Tuesday 29th October

Today in PE we were working on setting targets as well as practising our catching and throwing skills. This is what we will be working on this term before starting our performance for the Christmas Show.

Monday 30th September

Creating 2D shapes and patterns using loom bands this morning during SODA.

Tuesday 1st October

This morning we went to church for P5 Mass. In the afternoon we made Summer Smoothies. Most of us thought they were delicious. Some thought some more honey should be added to make it sweeter! 🍓🍌🍏🍋🍊🍑

Wednesday 2nd October

Weight Wednesday. For Maths Week this week we have been focusing on different maths areas on different days of the week.

Monday – Measure

Wednesday – Weight

We we’re using weighing scales today to explore different objects in our classroom. We were investigating whether objects were lighter or heavier.

Thursday 3rd October – the last day of Term 1!!! How has this come round so fast?!

Term 2 has started with a bang! We were super busy last week getting back into the swing of things.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays continue to be PE days.

Homework is to be handed in on Fridays.

Read Write Inc reading books need to be handed back in on Thursdays.

Monday 23rd September 

Awesome Number Talk this morning. We were talking about the number 9. We learnt that this was an Odd Number. We spoke about odd and even numbers too.

Blake drew 9 number ones on his board. Miss Mackay thought these were tally marks. We spoke about tally marks and look at what these amazing learners were doing. This will be a new strategy we will include on Wednesday! Super focus and concentration in Numeracy today P1/2.

Tuesday 24th September

Look at our amazing balances. We have been learning about different ways to travel and how to use equipment safely.

What fantastic  control everyone showed in their body movements!

Wednesday 25th September

After our MacMillian Coffee morning we were making shapes with marshmallows and cocktail sticks. What super fun we had!!! We made squares, triangles, rectangles and even circles! We soon figured out that we couldn’t use sticks when making circles!

Look at what Cameron surprised us all by making. What fantastic work! Creating 3D shapes without even realising. This is called a Triangular Prism.

Thursday 26th September

Super morning with Big Noise recapping songs and rhymes that we learnt before to help us understand notational value.

Friday 27th September

Fab Fit Friday and Castle building today!

We can’t believe that next week is the last week of term! What a super fast first term it has been 😀😀😀

Monday 16th September

Number Talk: focusing on number 6.

Tuesday 17th September 

Such a busy day that we got no photos!! We had Big Noise in the morning where we did some fantastic listening and played lots of fun games. After break we had Read Write Inc. Then after lunch we had our P1 Numeracy event where we fun stations set up to explore our learning.

Wednesday 18th September 

Showing our fantastic Number Talk work to the P1s and Mrs Corrie next door! We are all mathematical super stars!!

Building confidence and resilience in maths is so important. As well as making mistakes! Making mistakes helps us learn and make connections in our learning.

Thursday 19th September 

Big Noise this morning where we were learning new songs and rhythms to help us learn about musical notation. After break we all worked super hard in RWI and then with Miss O’Rourke after lunch when we were developing our listening and talking skills.

Friday 20th September 

Some of our stations today ^

In Numeracy we are recognising different numbers and matching them to quantities and resources. In this station you need to match the stone, numicon, card and peg.

We have been developing our fine motor skills by creating pasta necklaces. We have also been tweezing Pom Poms into cupcake cases, matching quantity with numeral.

P7s visited us today to read us their amazing stories! We loved hearing them. Thank you for visiting us 😀
