National Numeracy Day

Happy Numeracy Day everyone!

It’s a day to celebrate all your mathematical knowledge and expertise. I have adapted some activities that you can get outside and do in your garden/local area (on your walk).

We have done some of these in class before.

National Numeracy Day Activities

Here are some pictures of what I tried out:

Finding and recognising numbers in your house, garden or local community on your daily walk. See if you can find all numbers to 10 or even 20!

P2 you have been learning about place value. In my picture my leaves represent my Tens and my stones represent my Ones. Can you find other objects to show the value of numbers to 100.

I made my own Tens Frames using grass blades, stones and leaves. Find a sheltered spot to lay them down – I didn’t the first time and they blew away!!

Ask someone at home to give you a list of sums and work out the answers using the Tens Frames. If you are adding within 10 you will need 10 objects. If you are adding within 20 you will need 20 objects and 2 Tens Frames.

Please take some photos and post on our Teams or School Twitter page. I’d love to see what you get up to today.

Have fun!

Love,
