Week 7

Monday 24th February

Messy Maths this morning in p1/2. Lots of fun making numbers, reading number words and showing number value.

Arlo overcame the challenge of making the number 24.

We spoke lots about the value of the number and what twenty looks like. He told me that twenty is 10+ 10 so we got 2 ten pieces of Numicon. We then spoke about how to make the number 4. Arlo decided to make it using 4 ones. Then we spoke about different ways of making 4 and swapped Numicon pieces. Excellent perseverance, Arlo ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Jessica showing the value of 24 using Numicon. ⭐️

Lucas was exploring the sand tray to find different ways to represent the value of 33. ⭐️

Making One Hundred in pairs. Overcoming challenges and finding new ways to show number value. Excellent work Piotr and Carter! ⭐️

MISTAKES HELP US LEARN

Samuel going over and above. He wrote out this calculation on his whiteboard. We talked through it as a class – this really helped. Samuel thought very carefully about this. He knew there was a mistake and needed to fix it. The pictures don’t show it but he ended up changing his mind and writing 12. Great job overcoming challenges, Samuel!

The P2s were super excited today. We learnt how to hold our instruments and how they should be played.

Super well done to Blake who received this award at his Football Training on Wednesday.
