We have had a busy term. Our drumming lessons went very well with our instructors, Ricki and Iain. It all reached a climax last week when we held a concert with the Primary 7s to which all the other classes and parents were invited. It went really well and everybody seemed to enjoy it. Ricky and Iain are great teachers.
We have also been working hard on our topic which is all about the Dens Road Centenary. All the classes have been researching different decades and we will then share our findings. We have been researching the 1910s and the 1920s in our teams and we have looked at: fashion, houses and homes, pastimes, inventions and major events. As the school was built in 1911 we have also been looking at building materials and their different properties. The whole class also took part in a Build a Tetrahedron Workshop and this helped us understand engineering and technology better.
We took part in a Zoolab workshop this term. Everyone was allowed to touch the animals, reptiles and insects if they wished and it was great. We learnt lots of facts eg., some toads are eco-friendly because they absorb the volcanic ash when it rains. In P.E. we are learning different Scottish country dances for a festival in January. We have to learn 12 altogether so we have lots of practising to do.
Last week we were busy getting organised for the Christmas Fayre in school. All the classes had to make different craftwork
Happy new year, everyone! I am so excited that we are now in 2012. I wonder what amazing things lie in store for us all this year. I hope you all had a fantastic holiday with lots of fun with your friends and family? I can’t wait to come and see you all again for a busy term ahead. From Mrs Cassidy. X
