Jubilee

We’ve been keeping an eye on the the Olympic Torch Relay this week. Our computer has been a problem and it keeps freezing when we’ve tried to catch up with the relay. but we have managed to get a wee look at it. We’re looking forward to it coming to Dundee and lots of us are going to see it in Baxter Park.
We’ve got our teams all ready for our Crazy Catch tournament. We took some time to come up with rules that we all agreed on , but we’re ready to go now.
We’ve also been busy with our Jubilee preparations. Our bunting keeps falling down, but we’re looking forward to a fun day today. We’re hoping the weather stays dry so we can have fun with all the stalls in the playground this afternoon and, of course, we’ve got bingo this morning too and we all love that.

Another Busy Week

We have been so busy recently. We had an art session with Marji, Kirsty and Rebecca last week and we had to imagine ourselves as animals and draw what we would look like. It was quite hard, but we tried our best. This week we’ve been trying to imagine ourselves as sculptures.
Fit Friday was good. We loved playing Crazy Catch with Miss Dunlop and we hope to get to use it again soon. The Sport Relief Mile was a great success in the afternoon. It was a lovely, sunny day and we all managed to complete it. Some ran all the way and some of us walked, but we all did it.
Today has been really busy. We completed our egg challenge this morning when we had to design our parachutes to carry our eggs safely to the ground. The Friction Gang won and they got to eat the cream eggs too. We’ve also completed our filming of our news reports this morning. That had been great fun as we have reportered the story of the Twits.
We are looking forward to Friday because it’s the P7 Easter Fun Day, but we’ll be sad too because it’s Miss Wilson’s last day. We’ve had great fun while she’s been working with us and we’ll miss her when she’s gone.

Busy week

We have had such a busy week.

We’ve been so busy with lots and lots of friction work with Miss Wilson and we’ve had great fun with all the experiments we’ve been doing.
We did our assembly yesterday for the whole school and lots of parents came along too. Mr Day even managed along to see it and he was really impressed that we had learned so much from the work he did with us. Unfortunately, Miss Hamilton couldn’t make it because she’s working on placement just now.
Yesterday, we started a block of work with Marji and Kirsty and we hope it’s going to help make our classroom a happier, friendlier place by the end of the block. We’ve learned a lot already and we all got a chance to explain what makes us happy or unhappy in our class.

Last swimming

We had our last swimming session yesterday. We were sad about that because we’ve all come along very well and it we have all really enjoyed it. Some of us were quite scared on the first week, but not any more. We love it, but we’ll just have to wait till next year to try again.

We are very busy getting ready for our class assembly next week. We are going to show the rest of the school what we learned with Mr Day and Miss Hamilton, so we are busy putting it all together now.

Miss Wilson comes to join us next week, so we’ve also got that to look forward too.

Busy Start

We’ve had such a busy start to this term. We has Miss Wilson with us all last week and she did some really exciting tasks with us, so we are really looking forward to her coming back later in the term and she’ll be with us for 6 weeks.

Our swimming was cancelled last wek, but we did get there this Wednesday. We were so excited, but now we’ve all been assessed and ready to start in our groups next week.

We’ve had Miss Hamilton and Mr Day visiting us this week and today we started our work with them about lots of health stuff. They are coming all next week and we will be learning about the heart and lungs, the digestive system, the sensory organs and much, much more. We can’t wait to get started.

Next week is Scottish Week too. Lots of exciting things to look forward to, especially the Highland Games on Friday because that’s always very funny.

Christmas

We’ve had such a busy week. We went to the cinema on Tuesday and we really enjoyed the film, but it was a cold walk into town and back. We had a really cold day on Wednesday because the heating in school had broken down and we had to keep our coats on all day, but we had great fun at gym in the afternoon with our new gym teacher. That certainly heated us up. Our Christmas concert was held yesterday afternoon and evening. We were very nervous, but we did a good job of our wartime medley and Winter Wonderland. Getting everybody dressed in costumes was a bit hectic, but we made it. We’ve just managed to get our room tidied up and now we’re doing some Christams craft. Looking foward to M&M and our party next week.

Children in Need

We had a great day in school last Friday. We wore yellow or spots and brought in £1 to raise money for Children in Need. We had a Pudsey tuckshop and we had to do lots of preparation for that on Thursday. We made lots of money selling our special tuck. We also had a Pudsey bingo for the whole school. That was very excititng, but no-one in our class managed to win a prize.

We’re also busy getting ready for our Christmas Fayre. We have been decorating candles and it’s much harder than we expected. We hope our mums will buy our candles at next week’s Christmas Fayre.

Back to school.

We’ve had a very busy first week back. We had judo with Derek on Monday morning and we all enjoyed that very much. Some of us want to try going to his club. We had our Hallowe’en party on Thursday afternoon and we had to get some extra tuck ready to sell at the party. The party was funny because everybody was dressed up. We had some games and a costume parade. Today is Fit Friday and we are really tired. We started with rugby, then playground games, then circuit training and then classroom aerobics. We need some lunch and a bit of a rest.

Friday 23rd September

We’ve been doing a lot of work about the 1930s this week. One group is looking at fashion and we think the clothes people wore then are very different to what we wear now. We’ve looked at toys and games and we found that we still play some old games today. We also looked at cars and houses and we saw lots of differences there. We’ve had a look at the school logbook from the 1930s and it says that there were over 1000 pupils at Dens Road Primary then. How did they all fit in the building?
