Friday 23rd September

We’ve been doing a lot of work about the 1930s this week. One group is looking at fashion and we think the clothes people wore then are very different to what we wear now. We’ve looked at toys and games and we found that we still play some old games today. We also looked at cars and houses and we saw lots of differences there. We’ve had a look at the school logbook from the 1930s and it says that there were over 1000 pupils at Dens Road Primary then. How did they all fit in the building?

The Fruit Shack

We are now working hard on our tuck shop enterprise.
We have decided to call it the Fruit Shack and we had a Grand Opening when we invited all the school to join us in the hall and we celebrated with popcorn and smoothies. We deisgned t-shirts so we stand out when it is our week to be serving. We are all enjoying the responsibility when it is our turn.

We have also been working hard on out 1930s theme this week. We have been looking at toys, fashion, cars and houses and have found some very interesting facts. Some of the pictures we have seen have been very funny. We watched a funny film about when Green’s Playhouse opened in Dundee. It was very modern at the time. The building is now used as a bingo hall.
